innisfree-Soybean-Energy-Essence-[Light]-Review

A lighter version of the innisfree Soybean Energy Essence has just been launched by the Korean brand, which is even more compatible with the humid Singapore weather.

This anti-ageing and whitening essence is designed as the first step of your skincare regime, and promises to deliver six benefits in one formula:

  • Exfoliate dead skin cells
  • Firm up pores
  • Deliver soft and smooth skin
  • Promote cell turnover
  • Brighten skin tone
  • Strengthen skin barrier

The water-based essence contains 94% fermented soybean extract that is obtained through 300 days of natural fermentation in a volcanic clay pot, at an altitude of 620 metres atop Mount Halla in Jeju island.  The product is a concentration of eight types of essential amino acids found in soybeans that are known for activating skin cells and energising skin so it looks clear, bright and supple.

How to use it?

When your skin looks dull and rough, soak a cotton pad with the essence and swipe it to remove dead skin cells and impurities. But if your pores look enlarged and your skin appears dull, dab the soaked cotton pad onto your skin instead to firm up the appearance of pores, tighten skin and improve skin tone.

How is the lighter version different from the original?

While the original Soybean Energy Essence has a gel texture, the Soybean Energy Essence [Light] has a watery texture that absorbs faster into the skin. The original, which contains 91% fermented Jeju soybean extract is recommended for those with normal and dry skin types. The light version, on the other hand, contains 94% fermented Jeju soybean extract, is better for those with oily and combination skin types.

Do we like it?

I love that it is fragrance-free and is absolutely lightweight – exactly like water. It leaves a refreshing sensation on the skin that leaves the skin feeling hydrated. Any redness or irritation was instantly soothed and comforted. Because of how lightweight the formula is, it also makes it a great toner to be used if you layer on several products afterwards.

innisfree’s new Soybean Energy Essence [Light] is available from 1st September 2014 at innisfree’s stores located at Takashimaya S.C., Plaza Singapura and Bugis Junction, and will retail at SGD59.
