For any service, be it a facial, a manicure, or even hair styling, nobody will deny that the quality and efficacy would be the topmost consideration above all things, with price being a close second.
Even so, we can’t deny that the ambience of a salon plays a huge part in our decision to try them out, or to go back. After all, a body massage done in comparatively cramped and squalid spaces isn’t quite the same as one done in luxe comfort.
These are the 8 salons we’ve curated for the stellar efforts they’ve put into ensuring some seriously commendable ambiences, all for your enjoyment and relaxation.
1. Artistry Lab
Located in a condominium tucked away in a Kembangan neighbourhood, going for a session at Artistry Lab truly feels like you’re going home.
The salon is decorated in a cottage style, with warm lighting and comfortable furnishing. Simply walking into the salon feels like you’re getting transported to a different place entirely.
The illusion heightens when you enter your treatment room. You can tell that a lot of thought and effort went into the decorations used there to make the room feel cozy, intimate, and really like your home away from home.
You’ll be greeted by teddy bears all around the place, hearkening back to a younger, more stress-free time of your life – there’s even a small teddy bear hanging from the railings of the movable tray used to store the salon’s facial products in each room.
The therapists here don’t believe in engaging in hard-sell methods, leaving you to relax in peace during your facials, as you are wrapped up in cozy blankets and drifting off to the tune of soothing background music.
After your facial, you are also treated to cups of premium TWG teas to really complete the experience of a luxurious unwinding session.
Try out: The Red Carpet Facial by Artistry Lab. It includes deep pore cleansing and microdermabrasion, while also infusing hyaluronic acid into the skin to give it a more youthful glow and a more supple appearance. The treatment is a 100% safe, non-invasive process with no down time.
You can also pair it with the BB Watershine Covered Treatment, a semi-permanent makeup treatment which will help you achieve a glowing, poreless appearance on your skin for up to four months. It uses the Micro Needle Therapy System (MTS) with a micro-needle derma roller for an immediate brightening and rejuvenating effect.
The colour used for the treatment is approved by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and is also 100% natural. The process is entirely painless with no down time, and boasts immediate results. Best part? It won’t clog up your pores like conventional BB creams and liquid foundations.
You’ve probably heard of Yakson by now in some form or other. They’re the original brand that invented the Golki Therapy, which is a non-invasive and non-surgical way to achieve a smaller face. It does so by massaging your facial bones, and reshaping your face through pressure.
The Golki Therapy was first invented in 1979 by current chairman Lee Byung-chul, who then established Yakson in Masan, South Korea. Since then, Yakson has gone from strength to strength, opening more than 100 branches in Japan, China, the Philippines, and other locations in Asia.
They first came to our shores in 2016 with their first branch opening at Wheelock Place, but the chain has rapid expanded, with two more branches opening at Harbourfront and The Star Vista since then. We had a chance to review Golki Therapy when it first opened in Singapore, read it here!
As you might imagine, the salon is clean, intimate, and professional. You really feel like you are stepping into a luxe experience with everything you could possibly ask for for a pampering session.
A locker area is provided for their customers’ conveniences, as well as shower rooms and makeup counters, so refreshing yourself after a soothing facial treatment or spa is a breeze. The spa premises promise to pamper you every step of the way.
Their therapists are also very courteous and professional in their interactions with customers. Facial treatment rooms are also spacious and comfortable, and state-of-the-art technology is used to prepare the tools required for the facial.
The actual Golki Therapy at the spa can only be undertaken by therapists who have personally trained at Yakson House Academy under the tutelage of Mr. Lee Byung-chul himself, inventor of the technique.
Try out: the Small Face Care by Yakson. One of their most popular packages, this treatment is an embodiment of all that Yakson stands for.
The treatment starts off with a general body massage which helps to stimulate blood circulation around the body, and also encourage toxin removal. The body massage segments are usually done by an in-house trained therapist.
When it comes down to the segments that require the Golki technique, however, a more senior therapist enters the picture. These are the Golki “Masters”, who have completed training under the inventor of Golki, Mr. Lee Byung-chul, and they specialise in that one technique.
The “Master” will ask you to touch your face to informally measure its width before she proceeds with the Golki Therapy. By the end of it, she’ll ask you to touch it again to feel the significant difference in size.
You can actually feel it, but one session may not be enough for you to see any visible difference. These are usually more noticeable after 20 sessions, and if you sign on for the package, Yakson will also do a clay mask of your face so you can really see how much smaller your face has become.

3. Leekaja Beauty Salon
Leekaja Beauty Salon created quite a stir when it first came to Singapore, and it’s not hard to understand why once you’ve stepped into their store at Mandarin Gallery.
On top of providing top-notch professional service from experienced hairstylists from Korea (don’t worry, many of them are bilingual), it’s obvious to the eye that Leekaja prioritises customer experience in the entire set-up of their store as well.
The place is decked literally like a concrete jungle, and you have to admire how much thought and effort went into the decor and furnishings. Even their hairdressing chairs are made of solid leather.
Aside from the main hairdressing areas, there are also large and luxurious sofas on which you could rest, lounge around, and wait in the utmost comfort. There’s even a drinks bar in the salon, with a comprehensive menu of beverages and freshly brewed coffee made by baristas.
We did a review of the salon when it first opened, and trust us when we say you’ll feel a weight off your shoulders once you step in.
Try out: Their signature Cinderella treatment. Touted as a “Botox treatment for hair”, the treatment uses natural ingredients like aloe vera, vitamins, and collagen to help your hair look smoother and more luscious without harsh chemicals.
It is recommended for those with bleached, damaged hair, frizzy hair, unmanageable hair, or curly hair.
4. Purovel Spa & Sport
It’s important to not just take care of your face, but also your overall health and well-being. Purovel Spa & Sport understands this, and aims to bring to customers a holistic experience where you can get a work out in their comprehensive fitness centre, which is open 24 hours, or their jogging tracks.
Purovel Spa & Sport prioritises how good you feel both inside and out. After your work out, you get to be thoroughly pampered with a relaxing facial treatment combined with body massages to ease away the knots and tension.
Try out: their Refreshing Relaxation Massage. This massage is specially designed to relax your muscles and also encourage circulation in both your lympathic and circulatory systems. Therapists will also use their signature scents of the Purovel Meadow Mountain essential oil, consisting of lavender, clary sage, and pine. All of this sounds heavenly after a strenuous work out.

5. Lacquer & Spa
A manicure is already relaxing in itself, but once in a while, try indulging in a premium manicure. Lacquer & Spa is a nail salon located in Marina Bay Sands Hotel, so you know it’s going to be the last word in luxe nail colour and care. You can tell that too by the black and white decor that simply oozes luxe chic.
Even their manicure chairs look ridiculously luxe. It features a slot on the arms to hold a cup of drink, or your phones, and also buttons through which you can adjust the height of your leg rest and the angle of the back of your chair. What!
Aside from manicures and pedicures, Lacquer & Spa also offers facials and reflexology services so you can get all your pampering done in one place.

6. Yunomori Japanese Onsen & Spa
We were so excited when Yunomori Japanese Onsen & Spa first opened in Singapore that we’ve done several pieces on them, featuring their unique spa menu ranging from Soda Spa to Silk Bath, the Hokkaido Noboribetsu bath which is the first in Singapore, and even reviewed an intriguing limited-time-only Collagen Onsen!
Try: The Soda Bath. It’s so named because of how “gassy” its water is, filled with carbon dioxide which helps to increase blood oxygen levels. This will in turn improve your overall circulation, and is said to even reduce high blood pressure, improve skin elasticity, and bring back that youthful glow to your skin.
