7. Milani Amore Matte Lip Paint in “Beloved” , SGD20

Tiara Milani 5

I am a HUGE fan of liquid lipsticks and matte lipsticks in general, even though I have dry lips, and it makes them look like it has been sucked of moisture. With that said, I have tried many liquid lipsticks from different brands but have yet to try one from Milani. I’ve heard a lot of great things about it, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Even though it probably made my lips look cracked and crinkly (which is normal for a liquid lipstick in general), it sure didn’t feel that way!

Love. This. Colour. If you’re into mauve-brown nude shades, this is for you! As for the texture, it’s quite runny, but one swipe is good enough for you to get an opaque finish. It’s not patchy at all. It doesn’t dry super quickly as well, which gives you time to “edit” your work just in case you went outside of your lip line, or if you prefer to dab the product into your lips.

I would say that it would have stayed on longer if you don’t eat anything oily or greasy. Drinking water removed nothing from my lips. It didn’t even leave a stain on my straw and water bottle! But seeing that I had Mee Siam for lunch that day, the lip colour faded towards the inner part of my lips and left a weird lipstick leftover type look (that is not cute).

4. Ease of removing the product
7/10

It left no stain when I used my Shu Uemura cleansing oil. Using a makeup wipe removes the colour easily, but it does leave some sort of stain.

Tip: Oil, oil and oil… Based makeup removers. Liquid lipsticks are best and easily removed with oil based removers as compared to water based ones, or non-saturated facial wipes.

5. Bonus Points

Tiara Milani 6

It smells like cake, and the applicator made it really easy to apply!

8. L. A Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in “Bazaar”, SGD9

Tiara LA Girl 3

This liquid lipstick was not that bad. But it was the driest one out of the three I tried. But for the price (just SGD9!), I think it’s worth a try if you want to expand your lipstick and/or liquid lipstick collection.

Tiara LA Girl 2

It was really drying on the lips as compared to the other two. I could actually feel my lips cracking and parched. It wasn’t too bad, but not my favourite feeling.

2. Saturation and colour
4/10

Tiara LA Girl 5

I was hoping it was going to be those “affordable makeup items worth the hype” type product. But I was pretty disappointed with it. It was pigmented, but it applied streaky and I found that I had to go over a couple of times to get the opacity I want.

3. Longevity
7/10

Same story as the Milani Amore Matte Lip. I purposefully ordered thosai for lunch too. And nope, it did not withstand the grease from that very yummy thosai. Read the next point to find out why I gave this product a higher score in this category than the Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream.

4. Ease of removing the product
5/10

The product seemed to seep through the lines on my lips which made it look like I still had some lip colour on even when I had already removed it.

NA. But do note, this product smells like permanent marker.

9. Velvet Vanity Liquid Matte Lipstick in “Slam Berry” , SGD24

Tiara Velvet Vanity 3

This is my first time hearing of this cosmetic brand and I’m really impressed by it! It’s the most comfortable and least drying out of the three I reviewed.

1. Comfort
9/10

Tiara Velvet Vanity 1

Tiara Velvet Vanity 2

It has a mousse-like texture and it’s really creamy. It’s not drying at all, yet it gives a matte finish just like the rest of the liquid lipsticks! Matte yet hydrated lips? Yes, please!

Saturation and Colour
8/10

Tiara Velvet Vanity 5

It’s pigmented and you can get away with one swipe of the applicator, but it’s not 100% opaque. When looked closely after one layer, it does appear a little bit streaky. But it’s only obvious when you look really closely. So unless someone is going to be REALLY close to your face when you’re wearing this liquid lipstick, it’s not a big deal.

3. Longevity
9/10

Because of its formula (creamy), I was expecting it to fade away after I was done with my Thai salad. But the colour stayed the same as when I first applied! But I did notice that the lip colour transferred onto my fork and my salad. I left it on till after dinner (I had fried rice), and the colour faded a little bit. But, it faded beautifully and evenly, unlike the others.

4. Ease of removing the product
10/10

Easily removed with my oil-based makeup remover.

Again, another one that smells like cake! Yay!
