We're Now On Telegram

We can apply a million and one skincare products but there is only so much that they can do. There are days when our skin just needs a little more. Like facials! Not only are they relaxing and pampering, they purify our pores, brighten up our complexion, and basically rejuvenate and make our skin feel brand new again!

We compare six popular facial salons in this 2016 guide, so you can choose and decide for yourself which you think is the best:

My Cozy Room Boutique Spa

My Cozy Room interior

Located at a shophouse a stone’s throw away from Orchard Road, award-winning boutique spa My Cozy Room offers tranquility without compromising on convenience. Their services are administered using top German professional skincare brand, BABOR, and they have a focus on performing extraction without redness or irritation.

Its therapist are said to be certified with CIDESCO and CIBTEC, which are well-recognised qualifications for aesthetics and beauty therapy. While they have a range of treatments for different skin concerns, they are especially known for their Anti-Acne Facial, which helps acne-prone and congested skin with their almost painless but thorough extractions.

Price: Customised facial treatment at SGD188, but they have an ongoing promotion of SGD88 if you’re a first-timer.

What clients say: Reviews are glowing.  They are highly raved about online with positive reviews especially for facials with extractions. On TripAdvisor, they received 29 five-star (Excellent) ratings, with most of them saying that they see visible results within one session and that the therapists are patient, professional and attentive. Reviews on their Facebook page are similar too. With 4.5-star received on average, customers are happy with how the facial treatments managed to resolve their skin concerns. Blogger Melissa has been a paying customer of My Cozy Room and also has a lot of positive things to say about their services.

Outlets: 1 outlet, located at 56A Cairnhill Road (a short walk from Paragon Shopping Centre)

Extra: The salon also offers body treatments and specially customised treatments for brides.

SG Face

sg face

SG Face may be hidden away in a cosy corner of Holland Village, but appearances are deceiving. Their relatively small shop front actually hides a spacious accommodation with locker areas for guests, and multiple fully-equipped therapy rooms. Their therapists are skillful, and the spa has a “no hard sell” policy.

The salon also uses highly respected spa brands such as Jurlique, Babor, and Decleor. Facial treatments using Jurlique products are particularly popular amongst women who not only want to pamper their skin, but also want a time to thoroughly relax, as the process also focuses on aromatherapy. The treatment has benefits for anti-ageing and wrinkle prevention.

SG Face is particularly known for their super popular Collagen Facial, which uses marine collagen to stimulate and create a firm collagen structure under the skin layers for firming effects.

Another popular treatment is their Detox Facial, which harnesses high doses of Vitamin A, C, E, and garden cress extracts to bolster the skin’s defences against environmental stress and aggressors, such as UV rays, air pollution, and nicotine. This helps to prevent visible signs of ageing, and also to reverse signs of premature ageing.

Price: Collagen Facial at SGD260, but first-time customers enjoy a discounted rate of SGD130. Detox Facial at SGD198, but first-time customers will only pay SGD99.

What clients say: SG Face has managed to garner a huge base of regular clients over the years, especially since they are located at Holland Village, which is relatively central for most people. We have even tried out their sensitive skin and acne facial, and were thoroughly impressed by the experience, especially the relative painlessness of the extraction process.

Outlets: 1 outlet, #03-42, 211 Holland Avenue, Holland Road Shopping Centre (a short walk from Holland Village MRT Station).

Extras: SG Face also offers IPL services, and even hair and makeup services for events and weddings.

Jean Yip Beauty

Established in 1982, homegrown Jean Yip Salon now has more than 60 outlets in Singapore for hairdressing, beauty and slimming. Though they are more known for their hairdressing services, their beauty treatments sound pretty good too.

Their star facial service is the R6 Trilogy Detoxification Face Therapy. Using the latest technology, this customisable facial treatment helps strengthen our skin’s barrier against stress, ageing and external aggressors like harmful UV rays and pollution. According to the salon, a 30% reduction in puffiness and redness can be seen within the first session.

Price: SGD488 for the R6 Trilogy Detoxification Face Therapy. SGD244 for the R6 Blemish Recovery Face Therapy, but there’s a current promotion where you can try it for just SGD18 if you’re a first-timer.

What clients say: There are only a couple of reviews online but both mentioned that the therapists are not pushy and they were happy with them.

Outlets: 27 outlets, including Tampines, Plaza Singapura, Jurong Point and Causeway Point.

Extra: Complimentary professional skin consultation is provided.

Porcelain, The Face Spa

porcelain aesthetics 3

Another homegrown brand, Porcelain is helmed by mother-daughter pair, Jenny and Pauline. The brand uses only their own products, which are free from parabens and fragrances and are non-comedogenic. They have won many awards as they solve customers’ skin woes, one facial at a time. As a testimony to their facials, all their staff do not wear foundation.

Porcelain has a comprehensive list of facials to tackle various skin woes, with Quintessential Facial as their star treatment. Fully customisable, this facial treats all skin types with various equipment and includes a thorough extraction session (at their Cantonment Road outlet only; Porcelain Aesthetics at Orchard Gateway doesn’t offer extraction service).

Price: The Quintessential Facial is about 90 to 120 minutes long and is available at SGD374.50. The more affordable facials include the Pick Me Up with LED, SGD80.25 for 30 minutes, and the OxyRevive Facial, which is SGD208.65 for 75 minutes.

What clients say: Reviews online and on the brand’s Facebook page are mostly positive. For the latter, problems regarding customer service were addressed promptly. Several of our writers and our editor has tried their facial service, including the ProIonic Facial and the Illuminate Facial.

Outlets: 2 outlets, one at Cantonment Road and the other at Orchard Gateway.

Extra: The salon provides IPL hair removal services as well.

SK-II Boutique Spa

The SK-II Boutique Spa by Senze Salus is the first salon to marry the famous products of SK-II with the premium service provided by Senze Salus, a local skincare specialist. The duo seeks to provide a luxurious experience with the latest technology as they treat and repair our skin.

Their facials are put into four categories: the Advanced Face Works for the common skin woes, the Intensive Face Works for more complicated solutions that require more advanced technology, the Essential Face Works for maintenance and prevention, and the Men Face Works.

Price: The Advanced Face Works’ facials range from SGD200 for 85 minutes to SGD320 for 100 minutes. First time SK-II Boutique Spa customers can save up to 30% with their current promotion.

What clients say: Again, there are only a couple of reviews online which noticed radiance after the facials and commented that service was mostly good. Bloggers loved the thorough and luxurious experience.

Outlets: The Signature Spa is located at Millenia Walk Shopping Centre.

Skin Inc

Skin Inc uses concentrated, pure and active serums from Japan to customise skincare for those who like things simple yet effective.  With no fragrances and parabens, the brand uses the latest technology to meet our skin’s needs.

There are four different types of facials and each is completely customised according to each customer’s needs. The award-winning Oxy Miracle treatment is a 5-in-1 treatment that’s suitable for all skin types. It uses Japan’s hot spring (Onsen) water to cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate your skin for a crystal clear complexion.

What clients say: Bloggers noticed that their skin was more hydrated and radiant after facials.

This local apothecary spa started out in 1996 to bring us skincare that is creatively customised. Their facial menu of 17 different treatments caters to all sorts of skin woes. Whether it’s brightening, rejuvenating, detoxifying… They have them all.

Price: Price ranges from SGD171.20 (60 minutes – The Queen Facial) to SGD374.50 (75 minutes – Splash & Glow Facial).
