Unlike most people in humid Singapore, my skin condition is predominantly dry but not too sensitive. Most products formulated for dry or combination skin work fine on me. On the other hand, less ideal skin care products have left me with redness on my cheeks or sometimes flaky skin. It’s nothing too serious but a girl can’t ever get too careful with her face, can she?
I have to admit though, that facial scrubs and exfoliators always scare me a little. The thought of a “scrub” on your face gives me the impression of a serious strip-down of the dirt and dead cells along with whatever little moisture that’s left in my dehydrated skin.
Fortunately, the EHA gentle exfoliator gel did nothing of such and indeed lives up to its name.
What is EHA?
EHA Skincare is a Singapore-based brand with its products made in Japan specially developed to cater to the humidity of Asia and sensitive Asian skin. The EHA Gentle Exfoliating Gel is one of its bestsellers and the brand claims that it is so gentle at removing dead skin cells, it can be used even on sensitive skin. The gel also serves to reduce pigmentation and skin discolouration, maximising the skin’s ability to absorb the beneficial nutrients of the skin care and prepare the skin for treatment.
Key ingredients in the EHA Gentle Exfoliating Gel include the evening primrose oil for its antioxidant and whitening properties, algae extract for its moisturising and whitening properties, as well as glycerin for its hydrating properties.
How to use:
Apply the gel on clean dry skin. Leave it on for about 10 seconds and rub in circular motions. The gel is recommended for use two-three times a week.
The texture of the gel is like water with no micro-beads.
This is how the gel looks after rubbing. The application of the gel is easy and gentle on the skin. These bits appeared soon after I massaged in circular motions and there is no greasy feeling after application at all. My face feels more nourished than with other exfoliators.
After the application, my skin feels soft and fresh. There is no tightness sensation unlike other scrubs that I’ve tried, due to the hydrating properties of the glycerin ingredient.Fine lines were also visibly reduced. I moved on with my usual routine with a facial mask and woke up the next morning with supple and refreshed skin that I don’t often experience!
On the flip side of the coin, because the gel is so gentle and light, I had to use about four-five pumps of the gel before I felt a proper exfoliation on my entire face. The stubborn bits like the black and white heads on my nose only succumb to the exfoliation after the third session, with only a slight improvement around the area observed. Perhaps this is why it has suggested that we use it two to three times a week.
At SGD68, I find this a slightly hefty a price tag but if you have sensitive skin, this might just be the right product for you!
