The new The Body Shop limited edition 2015 Spring Trend Make-Up Collection can look very intimidating at first because of the vivid colours they offer. If taupe and earthy tones are considered “safe” colours (they are!), then what The Body Shop offers must be “risky”.
I took some trying to figure out how I can work with the Shimmer Cubes Palettes (SGD39.90). They come in two variants.
The first is Palette 31, with these shades: dark brown, luminous white, indigo and poppy yellow.
And the other is Palette 32, which carries the following shades: peach, luminous grey, fresh green and poppy pink.
But after trying them out, I realise they can work in a few ways:
- Use one colour only on the eyelids
- Use them like eyeliners on the top and bottom lash lines. They can be of different colours if you’re feeling experimental
- If you’re already quite familiar with eyeshadows, consider blending them on the eyelids. Dark brown and poppy yellow, and peach and poppy pink are great combos.
These are some looks I’ve done using the cubes:
Another great thing about this product is that each other are housed in cube cases that can be removed and replaced. This means that I could have took two shades from one cube to replace with two from another cube to customise the shades that I prefer to carry along in my makeup bag.
Besides the eyeshadow palettes, the collection also carries a Poppy Universal Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick (SGD29.90). This is a great product to carry along in the bag or for travel because you can use it as a blusher and a lipstick. It has a creamy texture that feels hydrating on the skin and lips and adjusts to the pH of the skin so it offers a unique shade for each individual.
The collection also consists of Lip & Cheek Velvet Sticks (SGD29.90) in five different shades, which offer rich pigment and velvety matte finish, a Poppy-inspired Blusher Brush (SGD32.90), and Colour Crush Nails (SGD12.90).
The Body Shop limited edition Spring Trend Make-up Collection is available at all The Body Shop stores.
