I know that everyone’s in love with the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. And there are many reasons to love it, I’m sure.
First, it led the pack in offering more inclusive shades – with 50 shades that cater to all skin undertones and shade intensity, Rihanna (who’s the founder of the brand, if you don’t already know) definitely knows what she’s doing.
And then everyone raves about the great coverage and beautiful finish it offered.
After the debut of Fenty Beauty in Singapore, and I attended the media preview for it, I was excited to try the foundation for myself. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. The foundation felt too drying on my dehydrated skin and I didn’t reach out for it again. So that’s SGD52 down the drain for me.
But nobody hates anything from Fenty Beauty and I kept this “secret” to myself, and only within safe spaces, among close friends, and in hushed conversations, dare I say what I really feel: I hated the OG Fenty Beauty foundation.
(Okay, I exaggerated. It’s not really a secret. I tell the truth to anyone who asks even though I know it’s a rather unpopular opinion.)
And then this year, the brand answered me (figuratively) by launching the Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation.
Apparently, there were fans who, like me, found the OG formula too drying for them, and so this is a more hydrating version.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation review: What do I think of it?
First, while I prefer the frosted glass packaging of the original foundation, this has a unique squeeze tube packaging (with a pump), which I believe will help me get every ounce of the product out. Yay! Dehydrated girls save more money!
The new formula features Grape Seed Oil and Sodium Hyaluronate, which are nourishing, hydrating, and helps skin stay comfortable all day.
Comparing the new version to the OG, I can see a significant difference. The Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation definitely glides on more easily on my skin and gives a slight dewy glow that I wasn’t able to experience with the older version.
Also, I like how it hydrates my skin so that fine lines are smoothed out and my skin doesn’t look as tired.
This foundation offers medium to full coverage, depending on how you build up your application. Most of the time, I was able to leave home without putting on any concealer. But note that I typically don’t suffer from any blemishes other than a little dark circles under my eyes. I like that the finish is natural-looking so my skin still looks like skin.
Most importantly, the foundation stays on beautifully on my skin all day and doesn’t feel drying at all.
I’m so glad that I can finally join in a conversation about how great Fenty Beauty’s foundation is. Because it is!
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation retails at SGD52. Like the OG foundation, it offers 50 shades and is available at Sephora.
