The luxurious liquid foundation is said to be inspired by Giorgio Armani fashion, which fits whoever wears it like a second skin.

A quick search on Google would point you to many glowing reviews of the product, with some even calling it their “holy grail” for matte liquid foundations. And if you’re familiar with Daily Vanity, you’d know that we love to challenge products that have received a lot of raves to see if they really live up to their hype. Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation review: First impression

Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation Review Product

The way you dress matters on a first date – and it’s kind of the same for beauty products, for me. A good packaging always makes me more excited to try out a product.

And the Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation is definitely one of such products. Housed within a frosted bottle with a black cap and red accents on the logo and product name, this product has a sleek packaging that lives up to the brand’s reputation as a fashion brand.

Moving on to the application. I’ve had a few bad experiences with matte liquid foundations because I find that they can be quite hard to blend out. But it wasn’t the case for the Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation. I used my fingers to apply the product the very first time I used it because I had no makeup on that day and had to run out for a last-minute meeting, so I made do with what I had with me. Even with my fingers, it wasn’t difficult to blend out the product properly to get a nice coverage.

The subsequent times I wore it, I used a brush for application. Similarly, it glided on easily every time.

Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation review: Texture, coverage and finish

I have been using the Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation Balm and have enjoyed it quite a lot. The liquid foundation version has a very similar coverage and finish as the balm, but obviously a lot easier to blend out.

Note: I feel that the shade matches well in person but on photos, the foundation looks a shade fairer.

Like the balm, the foundation delivered a velvet matte finish that helped to reduce the appearance of shine immediately. While it helped to reduce shine, I was glad to see that it didn’t make my complexion look duller. In fact, there was a subtle glow that didn’t look greasy.

It goes from medium to full coverage as you build the product up on your skin, which makes it a great foundation for those who have imperfections that use concealer to cover up. Its amazing coverage means you can use little to no concealer at all.

But because I don’t have many visible blemishes, I wouldn’t have minded if the coverage was less, so my skin can look more nude.

However, what I didn’t quite like was how it seemed to accentuate dry skin and clogged pores when I look at my skin up close. I suspect the matte finish had somehow made these problems look more obvious (than when I had no foundation on). Although you’ll only notice if you come closer to me and the overall look from a distance still appeared flawless, I was still a little self-conscious and felt like I should have exfoliated my skin before applying it.

Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation review: Longevity

There are some foundations that I’ve tried that don’t budge very much even if you don’t set your makeup with powder or spray, especially the matte ones. But I find that the Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation can move quite a bit if you don’t set it. Putting my hand on my face can create an obvious smudge within a second.

However, if you can avoid touching your face, I find that the foundation was resistant to environmental elements, oil, and sweat, even without setting it. I wore it for more than nine hours and I didn’t have the need to touch-up at all in between.

This was taken after walking long distances under the hot sun – no shine!

I also really liked that it kept shine at bay the entire day. Even on those days that I needed to go from places to places and running a number of errands, my complexion never once looked greasy.

Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation review: Verdict

I can see why the Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation is such a popular product among fans. It provides great coverage, is easy to blend, and is generally long-lasting. It also offers a beautifully matte finish that doesn’t make your complexion look dull or dry. The non-greasy texture feels comfortable on the skin and I find that the colour stayed true throughout the day; I didn’t observe any dulling or oxidising.

Other things I love about it: it comes with SPF25, which is a good enough sun protection level for me if I’m intending to stay indoors. I also like that it offers 18 shades to choose from (note: internationally, there are 31 shades in the range).

All in all, I would recommend the Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation for those who are looking for a good matte foundation that delivers great coverage and performance. However, I would note that this foundation is probably more suited for people with oily skin because it can really help to reduce shine. I have combination skin that leans more on the dry side, and the product seems to accentuate some of the imperfections like clogged pores and flakiness.

The Giorgio Armani Beauty Power Fabric Foundation retails at SGD90 and is available at the Giorgio Armani Beauty counter, located at Tangs Orchard.
