Looks like this is a season for perfumes to be launched. Over the last few weeks, Daily Vanity received quite a number of them – both men and women fragrances! – and we decided to put it to the test. Keith and Kristen will wear each of them on different occasion so the other party can do a blind review of how the fragrance smells on the other party. Read on to see the review!
Lancôme La vie est Belle L’Eau de Parfum Legere
She says: This comes in an understated bottle that’s elegantly topped with a translucent ribbon. It’s easy to like the scent – it’s very feminine, soft and delicate, very much like a blushing lady who loves dainty dresses. I would probably prefer to wear it to romantic events, rather than work events. I also think this is a very uplifting scent that is able to make me feel happy enough to break into an involuntary smile. No wonder this is called “La vie est Belle”, which means “life is beautiful” in French.
He says: I like my woman’s scent to be sweet. While I was meddling with my own stuff while waiting for Kristen to doll up, the room was suddenly filled with this sweet scent. “What’s that scent?” I asked her. “La vie est Belle”, she attempted a French accent. Sounds beautiful.
Dolce&Gabbana Intense EDP
She says: I was very impressed by the velvet texture of the box that gives the perfume a luxurious edge. From the name “Intense”, I was at first worried that the scent was going to be too overpowering. Thankfully the first spritz of the perfume was an invigorating citrus scent. Later, it develops into a creamy aroma that’s very comforting to the nose. I see it as a passionate fragrance that’s probably best worn in the evening, and when I’m wearing an LBD.
He says: I was also very impressed by the velvet texture of the box. I guess the thing about fashion brands is that they really know how to make things look luxurious. The unmistakeable citrus smell also makes you feel refreshed.
Boss Jour Pour Femme
She says: This is an interesting scent that seems to develop throughout the day according to my mood and needs. It starts off as a very refreshing scent that perks me up in the morning, and later develop into a floral, feminine scent. Finally, its base smells very soft and soothing, great for a relaxing evening. I’d say it’s a versatile fragrance that can be worn in different occasions. Like a great pair of jeans, I’m likely to reach out to it whenever I can’t decide what vibe to go for.
He says: The floral note is rather soft and can only be smelled when in close proximity. As the day goes by, the scent gets weaker. This works well if you prefer something not too overbearing.
Gucci Made To Measure Pour Homme
She says: I’m falling in love with this scent, or perhaps, it’s the person that I imagine would choose to wear this scent. It’s manly, suave and charismatic. I imagine someone like James Bond would wear it.
He says: Unfortunately, I’m no James Bond. This scent didn’t work for me. Now, I need a license to kill whoever is wearing it in case Kristen falls for him.
Burberry Brit Rhythm
She says: Young, energetic and vibrant. This is a fragrance that I expect a man with a lot of drive and vigour to wear. Personally, I find this very befitting of Keith’s personality and somehow I can see the synergy between his body’s chemistry and the fragrance. It’s a fragrance that evokes a lot of positivity and I think I would perhaps wear it some time!
He says: I like this scent a lot. It just feels right for me, but I’m at a loss for words as to how I explain the preference (Men usually have few words ;) ). This is almost what I wear everyday every since I got hold of it. One thing to note: The dispenser packs a punch as the spray is pretty strong. So you may want to spray it from a distance to allow it to disperse nicely rather than having an ugly patch on your top.
