We may always remember to book our manicure session or facial appointment, but there’s one important ritual that may be overlooked amidst the busy schedule – taking care of unwanted hair.
Unwanted hair removal has always been seen as something that’s quite a hassle to me, because like the hair on my head, unwanted hair on the rest of my body seem to grow out really fast as well. After trying several methods, I still prefer epilation because it’s faster and cleaner.
However, while many epilators claim to be painless, I still find epilators rather drying and hurtful to the skin.
And then I tried the Braun Silk-épil 7. This is one of the most popular epilators in the Braun family, because of how it promises to remove fine and short hair right down to 0.5mm long (that’s the size of a grain of sand), and that you can use it both wet and dry. The new Bonus Edition also comes with a cleansing brush for the face that removes makeup and impurities, delivering six times more effectiveness than manual cleansing, it claims.
Is The Braun Silk-épil 7 Good?
Compared the Philips epilator that I used to use, I find this Braun one quieter, which is of course a good thing. The whirring sound from my old epilator can be quite annoying.
I also find that it is more gentle on the skin. Because my skin is very dry, sometimes epilating can leave my skin a bit chapped and even peel. The Braun Silk-épil 7 seem a lot more gentle. Note that if I use the Olay wet wipes that comes in the kit to prep my skin before using the epilator dry, it gives an even smoother epilation and makes my skin a lot more hydrated and smooth.
Also, true to its promise, the Braun Silk-épil 7 indeed pick up even the finest and shortest hair. Take note that if it’s your first time using it, you may find yourself trying to find the right “angle” to position the epilator to pick up the hair. However, after getting familiar with it, you’ll find that it’s a piece of cake.
Finally, I love the idea of having a cleansing device packed together with the epilator in this bonus set – because I epilate in the bathroom most of the time (easier to clean up), it makes sense to remind myself to cleanse my skin more thoroughly with a cleansing device as well.
Epilation Tips
- If you want a more comfortable epilation experience, exfoliate your skin and take a warm shower before epilating. The warmth from the water will help open the pores and relax the skin so you’ll feel less pain.
- Your epilator should be moving against the growth of your hair. Think of it as a shaver.
- After epilation, apply some body lotion or body cream to soothe and hydrate your skin.
Braun Silk-épil 7 is available at SGD 199.
