Happy Lunar New Year!

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective White Dark Spot Solution, Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate and Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF50 PA+++ may be some of your favourite products from the New York brand – they’re definitely our favourites!

These three products (and many others) are from its renowned Dermatologist Solutions range, which was first launched in 2005. The range is known for its targeted solutions for advanced skincare needs, launched in partnership with a panel of Dermatologists and scientific experts from Harvard, Columbia, Yale, University of Pennsylvania and Cedar-Sinai.

After a decade of formulating great skincare products, the brand has recently hand-picked their new Dermatologist Panel; each expert selected for their  achievements in the medical field.

With the new panel, Kiehl’s introduces four new Dermatologist Solutions products:

  • Precision Lifting & Pore-Tightening Concentrate
  • Clearly Corrective Dark Circle Perfector
  • Ultra-Light Daily UV Defense Sunscreen
  • Ultra-Light Daily UV Defense Mineral Sunscreen

Judging the efficacy of the Dark Circle Perfector

Of these four products, the concept of the Clearly Corrective Dark Circle Perfector interested us the most. This product is a lightweight eye cream that has coverage and sun protection. In other words, think of it as a concealer-and-sunscreen specifically for the eye area that also has skincare properties.

It promises a few things: brightening the appearance of the eye contours immediately, reducing the look of discolouration and protecting the area against darkened appearance in the future.

The first impression of the product is good. It is extremely fluid and light, much like the brand’s renowned sunscreens, is tinted and is non-greasy and fragrance-free. Because of its fluid texture, a very small amount of the product is enough to cover your eye contours.

We like that it is very hydrating, so unlike some concealers in the market, it doesn’t emphasise on the lines under the eyes while it brightens up the area and conceals dark eye circles.

However, take note that if you’re using this in place of your concealer, it doesn’t come in varied shades. It appears very fair when you first apply it, but will look darker after a while. It is likely to leave a fair streak on the area where it is applied. The formula seems to suit those with fair complexion better because of its luminous hue if worn alone, but better if you’re intending to cover it up with your usual foundation.

The Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Circle Perfector SPF 30 retails at SGD65. Together with the other three new products in the range, it is available at all Kiehl’s stores.
