We spend most of our time and money caring for our facial skin. But our body skin can give away our age too, if we don’t pay attention to it. The new L’Occitane Almond Youthful Body Collection can help turn this negligence around, with its launch of two new products that are formulated with three patent-pending technologies.
The goodness of almond
This new collection sees three pending patents on its unique use of the almond tree:
1. The use of the fruits to harness proteins and silicium that offers firming and soothing properties;
2. The use of the almond buds to deliver refining properties;
3. The products in the collection carry the an exclusive youth complex, that’s blended with three active ingredients that are derived from the almond tree. This complex helps fight five signs of ageing on the body: dryness, skin slackening, lack of tonicity, fine lines and skin irregularities.
The L’Occitane Almond Youthful Body Collection
How do you care for your facial skin? You cleanse it, scrub it, use a serum and then a moisturiser. Similarly, you should care for your body skin in the same way – they’re after all an extension of your facial skin. Although they have different traits (number of pores, amount of hair, thickness etc.), the basic steps of caring for it are the same.
The new L’Occitane collection consists of two products: the Velvet Serum and the Velvet Balm. Use them after your shower, where your shower gel acts as a cleanser, and body scrub acts as an exfoliator.
The Almond Velvet Serum is useful in reducing the appearance of sun-induced dark spots, and to refine your skin’s texture.
The Almond Velvet Balm, on the other hand, helps to moisturise the skin and fight signs of ageing.
Do we like the L’Occitane Almond Duo?
The serum gets absorbed by the skin instantly upon application, and I find the texture and smell an absolute pleasure. The package comes with a nozzle that can be “locked” when twisted to prevent any mishaps; I appreciate the clever design. This serum is also non-greasy and has a velvety texture.
The balm, on the other hand, is rather thick, and smells of almond. I’m usually not a huge fan of the almond scent (like what you smell in almond jelly) but somehow, probably because of how delicate the smell is, it wasn’t much of an issue for me after application. Unlike the serum, the balm is a little more greasy and sticky, making it a slight discomfort to apply on humid nights. However, the “discomfort” melts away within a few minutes, and is generally tolerable.
Nonetheless, the ritual is totally worth the time and effort because I now wake up to really smooth, soft and supple skin that I never had experienced. I used to also have a lot of dry spots on my ankles and shins, which have gone away since I’ve started using these products. They also make my pyjamas smell really good.
The L’Occitane Almond Velvet Serum retails at SGD76, and the Almond Velvet Balm retails at SGD91. Both are available at all L’Occitane stores.
