According to a global study, over 90% of the world’s population is affected by acne at some point in their lives. It’s no wonder we scramble to find a cure-all for this troubling skin woe, sometimes to no avail. So if picking out a suitable acne treatment makes your head spin, you’re not alone.

One Daily Vanity reader, Jing Wen, has been trying to manage her acne for 11 years now, and she may have found the perfect solution. Read on, as we’ll be sharing more about her history with acne as well as her Lumipeau review. Spoiler alert: these products improved her complexion after a 10-day trial!

Jing Wen’s history with acne

“I feel embarrassed looking into the mirror and seeing red pimples on my face. Oftentimes, I have to cover them up with makeup to avoid conversation about my acne,” Jing Wen shared. The unsolicited advice she gets from strangers typically includes sleeping earlier, drinking more water, or seeing a dermatologist – and the latter isn’t always accessible to everyone.

On days when she’s not wearing makeup, Jing Wen says she sometimes feels naked and less confident in her own skin. “When I’m in a Zoom meeting, I would turn on the makeup filter function to hide my pimples,” she said.

In a bid to heal her skin, she turned to drugstore brands, but these acne treatments either showed little to no results or were too harsh for her skin, leaving dry patches that affected the way her makeup went on.

Though there are plenty of trials and errors along the way, the arduous process hasn’t dimmed Jing Wen’s shine, especially when it comes to her work and social life. “I’m someone who’s willing to explore and consistently try out new things. This has given me lots of opportunities to work and connect with people,” she conveyed.

As someone who loves sharing her experiences with others, Jing Wen was thrilled to try Lumipeau’s acne products to see if it could improve her complexion. Before we delve into the products, we’ll first let you get acquainted with the brand.

About Lumipeau: Behind the brand

lumipeau review founder

Founded by Diana Yow (pictured above, left), Lumipeau is a leading acne skincare specialist here in Singapore. Powered by clinically proven ingredients, the brand’s skincare innovations are formulated specially for Asian skin to combat breakouts at any stage.

Just like Jing Wen and most of us, Diana has struggled to manage her breakouts for years – 12 to be exact. “Throughout my adolescence and adulthood, I was extremely self-conscious about the appearance of my red and blemished skin,” Diana shared. “I felt incredibly lonely and helpless as people around me who did not have acne-prone skin could not relate to my struggles, both physical and emotional.”

After spending plenty of time researching and testing various treatments, she decided to turn her struggle with acne into a skincare brand that stood out from the rest. “Lumipeau is born out of a desire to help fellow acne battlers embark on a holistic approach to clear skin, synergising the benefits of using effective skincare products with good lifestyle habits,” she announced.

The brand holds a promise to be open and transparent (literally) with its ingredients and packaging, so that you can make safe and smart skincare choices for yourself – what you see is exactly what you’ll be getting.

On top of that, Lumipeau makes green decisions throughout its product lifecycle – from the use of eco-friendly, reusable glass bottles to the direct label printing on the glass bottles to minimise material wastage and its reusable pouches. Plus, all orders are shipped box-free.

Those with sensitive skin will also be pleased to know that their formulas are free of drying alcohol, mineral oil, parabens, silicones, sulphates, and synthetic fragrance. Plus, they’re cruelty-free.

ICTASOL: Lumipeau’s star ingredient

What sets Lumipeau apart from other acne skincare brands out there is its use of ICTASOL, an ingredient that hails from the French Jura Mountains.

It is mined from a beautiful limestone with organic matter that can be traced back to phytoplankton found in the age of the dinosaurs, which dates back millions of years. Backed by intensive research, the ingredient was also a favoured medicine used by doctors in hospitals and private practices.

ICTASOL isn’t something that’s found in many blemish treatments on the market, but it sure does pack an acne-fighting punch. In fact, clinical studies have shown that it improves the overall appearance of acne-prone skin by a whopping 94%* and reduces the number of pimples by 80%**. These results speak for themselves, and it’s exactly why Lumipeau is a cut above the rest.

To put the brand to the test, Jing Wen tried two of Lumipeau’s products for 10 days. Keep reading for her Lumipeau review, including her first impressions and results after the trial.

Lumipeau review: First impressions

To help you streamline your skincare routine and target blemishes, Lumipeau has introduced a simple three-step plan: cleanse, protect, and treat.

1. Cleanse: LumiPure Anti-Blemish Cleanser

A gentle gel cleanser, the LumiPure Anti-Blemish Cleanser effectively removes dirt, excess oil, pollutants, and other impurities that build up on your skin daily. The lightweight gel texture refreshes the skin, and it also helps to retain the skin’s natural moisture.

“The cleanser isn’t scented and I like how it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth after cleansing,” Jing Wen noted. It didn’t leave her skin feeling tight and dry after too, which boded well for the rest of the review. Plus, it prepped her skin well for the rest of her routine.

2. Protect: LumiShield Anti-Bacterial Facial Mist

Unlike regular facial mists, the LumiShield Anti-Bacterial Facial Mist has an antibacterial formula that nixes bacteria to keep breakouts at bay – we like to think of it as a “face sanitiser”. And if you’ve been experiencing maskne as of late, this facial mist can certainly help to calm inflammation and kill harmful bacteria to treat existing breakouts and prevent new ones.

This lightweight mist features the brand’s star ingredient, ICTASOL, to reduce the number of blemishes for clearer, healthier skin.

Housed in a sleek glass bottle, this facial mist soothes and refreshes the skin with its blend of herbal extracts, and it even helps to regulate sebum production to prevent clogged pores. Jing Wen found the mist incredibly convenient to use after cleansing. From the first use, her skin felt less oily, and it stayed fresh even after a long day outdoors.

You can even bring the bottle of mist with you when you’re out and about. Our skin is constantly exposed to environmental stressors, which is why this mist is perfect as its first line of defence.

3. Treat: LumiClear Potent Acne Spot Complex

A fast-acting spot treatment, the LumiClear Potent Acne Spot Complex also contains the brand’s key ingredient, ICTASOL. It’s also powered by four other potent acne-combatting ingredients, including exfoliating Salicylic acid, pore-minimising and redness-reducing Niacinamide, blemish-fighting Tea Tree Oil, as well as Eucalyptus Extract to heal imperfections fast.

While Jing Wen didn’t try the spot treatment in her 10-day trial, we recommend adding it to your anti-acne skincare routine if you’re experiencing some seriously stubborn breakouts. If you don’t have persistent acne, it’s still a great product to have around as an SOS treatment in case you’re greeted by a sudden breakout or an occasional zit.

Lumipeau review: Results after 10 days

After 10 days of consistent use, Jing Wen reported healthier skin that’s much less oily. “I saw a reduction in oil production in just one day, thanks to the facial mist, and a reduction in blemishes after only three days,” she raved.

From the before-and-after images (above), it’s clear that the redness and inflammation around her acne went down, and her complexion appears more radiant and even-toned.

Her favourite product was undoubtedly the LumiShield Anti-Bacterial Facial Mist, which helped to control sebum production from day one. “It’s incredibly refreshing and it left my skin feeling softer and more supple. It sprays evenly too, and it doesn’t leave a greasy residue on my skin,” Jing Wen let on.

Of course, she enjoyed using the LumiPure Anti-Blemish Cleanser too. “The cleanser leaves my skin feeling smooth as it clears my blackheads. It also helped to minimise the look of my pores,” she shared. “I liked how balanced my skin felt after every wash. I would love to continue using the cleanser and mist in my daily skincare routine.”

Needless to say, we’re impressed by the results after only 10 days. If you’ve been struggling to keep acne at bay and you’re still on the hunt for the best acne products, look no further than Lumipeau and give the skincare range a try.

Lumipeau’s LumiPure Anti-Blemish Cleanser retails for S$63, LumiShield Anti-Bacterial Facial Mist retails for S$65, and LumiClear Potent Acne Spot Complex retails for S$68.
