I have used many foundations in my line of work – many of them from high-end brands that cost a small fortune. Very often, I find that more expensive products seem to work better on my skin than others. They tend to be more blendable, hydrated, and give a beautiful finish.

This is why I was surprised when I first applied the Max Factor Healthy Skin Harmony Miracle Foundation. This drugstore product may retail at only SGD27.90 but applies like a dream. The formula may feel thick when I first pumped it out of the bottle, but I find that it blends effortlessly with either my hands or a brush.

But I think the real draw of this foundation is how it continues to stay fresh-looking throughout the day.

This is how the foundation looked on my skin after a walk out to the nearby hawker centre for lunch. I didn’t do any touch up.

The foundation continued to stay fresh even till the end of the day when I met up with my girl friends for dinner. They asked if I didn’t have to work that day (and came over from home after freshly applied my makeup). All I had on was more lipstick! They will now know my “little secret” when they read this article – wink!

And while I don’t have obvious blemishes that require concealing, this has adequate coverage that I need to cover the redness around my nose, and the obvious veins on my cheeks, without looking too heavy. I love that I can achieve a my-skin-but-better look, with my skin tone evened out, and a demi-matte finish that I like. I appreciate that I don’t look as greasy as I would usually with a dewy formula, yet my skin looks healthy and radiant, something that can be challenging to achieve with foundations that are too matte.

This product definitely sits among one of my favourite foundations now, and I find myself reaching out for it especially when I know I need something to sustain a long day ahead.

Sherlynn Chan: Full coverage, matte finish. Blends relatively easily. Lasts very well in the humid weather with minimal creasing & patchiness. Doesn’t accentuate any dry patches. But it does oxidise with long hours of wear and can compromises on skin radiance. The consistency is also quite thick but still feels bearable on the skin. Overall a pretty decent foundation for a drugstore brand! I would recommend this for people with combination/oily skin types.
