Roses may be associated with love and appreciation, but I have never been a huge fan of flowers. After all, they wither too fast, cost too much (for something that is gone after a few days) and don’t serve a lot of purposes besides looking gorgeous in my Instagram photo.
Since my husband is definitely reading this, it’s a good chance for me to share the type of roses I’d be more excited to receive this Valentine’s Day. If you agree with me, share this article with your beau!
A rose fragrance
There are many rose fragrances in the market, but this one is definitely the king of them all. The newly-launched Maison Francis Kurkdjian À la rose is formulated with 250 precious roses from Grasse (more than the bouquet of 99 roses your annoying colleague received last year!) and is an elegant scent that is crisp, soft, and perfect for most occasions. This 70ml fragrance retails exclusively at Escentials, at SGD390.
A lip tint in rose shade
If a man wants kisses, make the kisser feel kissable with a moisturising lipstick. The new Etude House Dear My Wish-Lips Talk lipsticks are fortified with plant-based skincare ingredients to keep them hydrated, without compromising on vivid pigments.
From the 10 shades available, I’m looking at the PK001 Dreamy Propose Pink, a soft hue that makes lips look naturally tinted. Each lipstick retails at SGD17.90 and is available at all Etude House stores.
A blusher with rose emblem
From the Chanel Spring 2015 collection, the Jardin de Chanel Blush Camelia Rose is a blusher that features beautiful camelia motifs on it. More than just an eye candy, this limited edition blusher offers a delicate shade and silky texture that will make you look like you’re really blushing with joy. This being said, with such good looks, the blusher will be one that I’d find hard to start using, because it’ll mean damaging the motifs.
A rose scent for home
Those who don’t indulge in home scents won’t understand this – but once you start using fragrances for your home, you can never believe why you never did in the past. The new Diptyque Eau Plurielle (SGD130) is a great option for those who want to start on home fragrances. This fragrance is reminiscent of the scent of fresh linen that has long been laid on a bed of ivy and Turkish roses, and can be used on yourself or on your furniture and linens. Also launched recently is the Rosafolia scented candle (SGD110, 190g) and scented oval (SGD76). This limited edition duo is infused with the soft scent of Turkish rose. I have my eyes on the scent oval, which I would love to hang in my wardrobe. These are available at Escentials.
A rose-scented moisturiser
Rose is commonly used in skincare because of its antioxidant and hydrating properties. Its scent also has a calming effect on the user. The Fresh Rose Hydrating Gel Cream has a lightweight texture that absorbs quickly into skin. This daily moisturiser is suitable for all sin types and promises to deliver 24 hours of moisture for the skin. This retails at SGD68, at Sephora and the upcoming Fresh boutique at ION Orchard.
