To do so, we enlisted the help of Peony, a Daily Vanity team member who has thin, fine hair to try OGX Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner for seven days. Here’s what she has to say about her experience:
“Apart from fine hair, I struggle with frizziness too and occasionally, the frizz gives me wild volume that I never ask for and it can be really time-consuming to tame it. After using the OGX Biotin & Collagen duo for a week, I like that the products do a great job at controlling frizz and offer me adequate volume without feeling too heavy on my chest-length hair.
Another thing that I like about the shampoo, in particular, is the thin texture that isn’t runny at all so it lathers up nicely and also rinses off easily every time I use it in the shower. Both products come with a pleasant scent too, which makes my hair-washing routine a relaxing one each day.
To put the products to the test, I deliberately chose not to apply any treatment products after shampooing and conditioning, to see how my hair turns out with just the shampoo and conditioner in my routine.
I was pleasantly surprised that both products managed to give me decent volume in my hair without any additional reinforcement from hair serums or oils! What I like considerably was that the formulas seemed to be moisturising enough for my hair without weighing down my scalp.
If I have to nitpick, I’d say that I would prefer the shampoo and conditioner to come in pump bottles instead of the current packaging. Don’t get me wrong, the oval-shaped bottles are really cute and they certainly stand out from the rest of the brands out there but as a mother of a very active one-year-old, using haircare products that come in a pump packaging is just faster and more convenient for me.
I also foresee having trouble squeezing the products out to use when I’m about to finish using the products – it could potentially be difficult to get the conditioner out of the bottle unless I cut it open.
All in all, I’m glad that I got to try OGX Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner because it left my hair feeling light and airy! After using it for just one week, I noticed that my hair started looking more revived in addition to feeling smoother and looking healthier and more voluminous.
I’m no stranger to the brand – I’ve previously used the Argan Oil of Morocco as well as the Cherry Blossom series before – but I must confess that the Biotin & Collagen variant is one of my favourite ranges so far from OGX, mainly because the products suit my current hair condition extremely well and they do not make my scalp itch (something that I experience if I use the wrong haircare products).
