I was intrigued when I heard the name of the new product by REN: Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial.
Hang on a minute. Facial in 60 seconds? Really? I thought I HAD to give it a try.
What is the REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial?
This is a treatment product that is formulated with water-activated vitamin C. Vitamin C is known for its great brightening effect on the skin and its antioxidant properties, but often, it’s hard to harness its full benefits for skincare because of how unstable it is.
The technology used by REN is able to lock 10% vitamin C in a silica-glyceride matrix so it’s more stable. It is also water-activated, this means that it remains stable and potent, and its benefits released only when you apply it to your skin.
All you need to do is to apply the product all over your face and neck, and then massage it with circular movements. Once the formula is applied evenly on desired areas, you then dampen your finger tips with water and massage onto the same areas to activate the ingredient. Leave the formula on for one minute before rinsing it off.
You can watch this video to get more information and to see a demonstration on how to use this product:
The product promises spa facial quality results.
You can use this once every three days, but take note that it’s not recommended for those with sensitive skin.
Did it work?
The product dispenses as a green gel that has very, very fine beads to it. It’s almost like an ultra gentle scrub. Thanks to the beads, it feels very nice to massage it onto the skin. Intuitively, I concentrated more on areas that are typically clogged, like the nose and the chin.
After activating the formula with water, I felt a slight stinging sensation on my face, as I counted down to 60 seconds. Thankfully, it was only for one minute so it didn’t cause much discomfort.
After rinsing it off, my skin felt immediately perked up: it looked more radiant, and felt more firm and also very smooth.
Did it feel like I just had a facial? I’d say it’s rather close.
It probably felt like I had just gone through a machine exfoliation at a facial treatment, but before the therapist puts on a mask on my skin. My skin didn’t feel as hydrated and supple as it would have after a facial.
However, if you desire the result of a facial in the comforts of your home, you can consider using the REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial, followed by your favourite facial mask. The combination should not take more than 20 minutes to complete, and you probably would come close enough to post-facial quality skin without even stepping out of your house.
The REN Clean Skincare Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial (75ml) will be available at Escentials Paragon and TANGS Orchard in March 2015, and it will retail at SGD74.
