When it comes to skincare, prevention is always better than cure. Although I am in my early twenties, the late nights, drinking insufficient water, and genetics (my mother and I have suffered from dry skin all our lives) have resulted in premature aging. The most prominent sign of ageing would be the fine lines that plague my eye area, although I’ve heard that decreased smoothness and luminosity are common as well.

Origins recently launched its Three Part Harmony series, featuring the Oil-Infused Serum and Nourishing Cream, which are formulated with the Tazetta Lily Bulb. Created to boost production of collagen, it is said to improve firmness, smoothness, moisturisation and radiance within four weeks of usage.

Now, I’ve heard a lot of such promises, and they mostly fail to deliver. Before we blindly encourage you to spend SGD123 on each product, I’ve tested them out first to see if they’re worth the hype:

The results

The most prominent difference would be the decreased appearance of fine lines around my eye area. The results speak for itself: although you can still see some fine lines at the end of four weeks, there is a remarkable difference between the first and last week. I also did feel my skin was more moisturised than before, although the flaking around my nose still occurred on drier days. I can’t feel much difference in terms of radiance and firmness.

The packaging

The solid wood cover and glass bottles made the products feel understatedly luxurious. I loved that the serum came with a dropper that helped control the amount of product released from the bottle.

My only gripe is that the nourishing cream came in a tub! The cream was thick, so I felt like any germs on my fingers were definitely transferred onto the product. My OCD kicked in after a few days and I started using the protective cover as a scoop for the product. (And you should too!)

The texture

While the serum was extremely lightweight, the cream was rather thick, and required a little tugging on the skin to spread it evenly. In my first week of usage, I applied more cream to avoid the tugging sensation while making sure my whole face was covered evenly. I slowly realised it was a silly thing to do, because the excess cream got transferred to my pillow anyway.

Final thoughts

After four weeks of incorporating Origins Three Part Harmony into my nightly skincare regime, I would say it did live up to its promises to a certain extent. I experienced more moisturised skin, with less visible fine lines especially around my eyes, although I did not see a marked improvement in terms of radiance and firmness. To be fair, I never suffered from significant dull complexion and a lack of firmness in the first place, and the products had nothing to fix anyway!
