I horde eyeliners – especially coloured ones. They can easily make your eye makeup look va-va-voom without needing to spend too much time on it.

Seeing how I’ve got many of them that claim to be waterproof, I thought I’d put them to the water test to see if they really live up to their claim. The eyeliners tested are: Max Factor Color X-Pert Waterproof Eyeliner, Star Lash Lightning Waterproof Eyeliner, Clio Twisturn Waterproof Turnliner, Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner and Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Eyeliner.

Watch the experiment here:

So I’d like to use this table to sum up my impression of these five eyeliners:

Max Factor Star Lash Clio Chanel MUFE
Vibrancy of colour 10 5 10 7 9
Water-resistance 9 8 6 9 9
Smudge-proof 7 6 7 10 10
Ease of removal 4 9 4 10 10
Total 30 28 27 36 38

I’m really impressed by MUFE Aqua Eyes. From what I understand, the brand is used by French synchronised swimmers (aquatic ballerinas), so while I’m impressed, perhaps I shouldn’t be too surprised. Chanel also performed really well, but my only gripe about it is that the colour payoff isn’t as great as that of MUFE.
