Think Korean skincare brands and one will probably recall Laneige, Etude House, The Face Shop and Missha. Dr Jart+ may not be one that you think of, but it is in fact an established Korean skincare brand. You probably don’t make the association as quickly because it seems to be distinct in the sense that they don’t go for a fun and bubbly image, complete with K-pop idol endorsers.

Despite the less flamboyant approach, it is a brand Daily Vanity want to share with you because Dr Jart+ prides itself on the intense research and tests that their products undergo, guaranteeing effectiveness and results even for those with sensitive skin.

The spotlight is on the Ceramidin range today, a skincare line that is touted to contain a high concentration of ceramides, which are molecules required for the skin to be smooth and fully hydrated. The Ceramidin Light Cream + Liquid set contains two products as its name implies – a tube of liquid formula and a tub of light cream. This is a two-step regime that requires you to apply the liquid before slathering on the cream. With two products, it boasts a double dose of the ceramides, extremely suitable for dry and uneven skin like mine.

Ceramidin Light Cream Liquid

For both products, a little goes a really long way. The consistency of the liquid is light enough that you can just squeeze a few drops and it will cover your entire face easily. The light cream is indeed as light as its namesake. Unlike many other creams that have very thick consistency, making them hard to spread, the light cream is more like a light mousse. You can easily and evenly apply it after putting just a few dabs on the face.

Does the Dr Jart+ Ceramidin Light Cream + Liquid work?

There is indeed a marked immediate effect after using the products. I have dry skin that tends to look dull, so it was pretty amazing to see that my skin was almost glowing after application. My entire skin texture was a lot softer and looked less flaky and uneven than usual. My liquid foundation glided on effortlessly afterwards without any primer, as opposed to how it usually highlights the dry and uneven parts of my face.

However, one thing to note is that the herbal smell of the products can be overwhelming. I strongly prefer unscented products, so I was mildly irritated. It almost seemed to be more of a chemical smell than a fresh herbal smell on first sniff. However, after applying it, the smell more or less disappears.

If you are less of a sniffer and don’t mind scented products, you’ll probably get used to it after a while. The effects of the Dr Jart+ Light Cream + Liquid is definitely worth it.
