The underbase mousse technology isn’t new to Shu Uemura. In fact, the first base product in mousse formula that the Japanese has was launched in 1990 – that’s 25 years ago.
Therefore, it probably didn’t come as a surprise that in this age of CC creams, Shu Uemura would be one to launch a CC mousse.
While most CC creams is referred to as “colour correction” cream, the “CC” in the new Shu Uemura POREraser CC UV Under Base Mousse SPF 35 PA++ stands for “complexion control”. The collection is made up of primers in four different colours.
How do I choose the Shu Uemura POREraser CC Mousse for myself?
You can decide in two ways: what skin concerns you’d like to correct, or what makeup look you desire.
Ivory: If you wish to achieve a clean look, or if you wish to make tired-looking skin appear fresher
Pink: This is great for creating cute-looking makeup, or if you want to correct dull-looking or yellow complexion.
Beige: You can use this for natural-looking makeup or if you want to counteract redness on the skin.
Deep beige: This is designed for getting a healthy-looking makeup look, or to combat discoloration in darker skin.
Is the Shu Uemura POREraser CC UV Under Base Mousse good?
First of all, don’t be intimidated by the colour of the mousse, it actually blends out naturally onto the skin. However, when you first use it, go easy on the nozzle because a lot of product can be dispense if you use too much strength, causing wastage.
The mousse is best blended using a sponge (the Shu Uemura pentagon sponge is designed as a perfect companion), and feels weightless and refreshing on the skin. It helps to conceal the appearance of pores naturally, even out skin tone and helps to control shine. Note that while this can be worn alone, it is formulated as a primer, and doesn’t come with a lot of coverage. You should still be applying foundation and concealer later if you need the coverage.
Finally, unless you’re a makeup artist or are very experimental in your makeup routines, otherwise, I’d suggest picking a colour that helps with correction instead. I personally find the Ivory shade a great match for me, because it helps to lift my fatigue complexion.
