While absolutely poreless skin is not a realistic facial feature, a lot of us can definitely benefit from smaller looking pores so that the skin looks more youthful and supple.

However, minimising pores is arguably one of the trickiest skincare techniques out there for beauty newbies and aficionados alike. That’s because there is no way to permanently change your pore size as pores are a structural layer of your skin that are always going to be there.

But while you can’t shrink large pores (or get rid of them – seriously, why?), you can make them appear smaller with effective pore-minimising skincare like the formulas from homegrown beauty brand, snowperk.

To put its signature pore-minimising products to the test, we invited 10 readers to try the snowperk Balancing Moisturizer Gel-Cream and No. 2 Pore Minimizing Booster for 14 days.

They were tasked to switch up their skincare routine, where they would use the moisturiser and facial booster twice daily after cleansing and toning. Spoiler alert: The average verdict was a 4.4-star rating out of 5!

Snowperk Reader Review Evon Before After

Evon, 30
Skin type: Combination
Skin concerns: Dull skin with blackheads

I’ve always had blackhead problems especially on and around my nose area so at least once a month, I try to squeeze in a brightening and moisturising facial to address my skin concerns. I also use blackhead removal strips at least once a week.

On first application of the moisturiser, I was not convinced with the texture as it initially felt sticky but to my surprise, it quickly absorbed into the skin within minutes, leaving no trace of stickiness.

I also realised that my makeup stayed longer after using the moisturiser, and it also didn’t cause any breakouts even though I wore a mask most of the day. My skin can be quite sensitive towards fragrance, so I’m glad that the moisturiser didn’t smell too fragrant or overwhelming.

During the trial period, I stopped using any blackhead removal strips and relied on just the facial booster. When I took a closer look on my skin after using the pore-minimising booster for two weeks, I realised that the blackheads have visibly reduced without the need of squeezing them out.

Tiffany, 35
Skin type: Normal-dry
Skin concerns: Dehydrated skin with wrinkles, lines, and visible pores

I use a clarifying mask on a weekly basis to tackle my skin concerns and I’m glad that the moisturiser, which I used just a pump for my entire face and neck, has worked very well for my skin type. My skin feels hydrated but not greasy, and it’s fragrance-free formula is a major plus point as well. I’d already started recommending it to my circle of friends!

The facial booster was also a greatly effective formula for me. Not only did the gel-like formula get absorbed into the skin in seconds, it’s also made my skin texture smoother and more refined after using it for two weeks. In fact, it’s a product that has worked better for me than other skin boosters that I have used previously.

Snowperk Reader Review Lynnett Before After

Lynnett, 30
Skin type: Combination-dry
Skin concerns: Dull, textured skin with uneven skin tone, dehydration, visible pores, and blackheads

To treat my multiple skin concerns, I try to exfoliate two to three times a week and go for a purifying facial a few times a year. As for skincare products, I try to steer away from formulas that are too rich or heavy as they can cause breakouts on my skin.

I was initially wary of the moisturiser and pore-minimising booster as snowperk was a brand that I’ve never heard of before. However, I’m glad that I had a generally pleasant experience using the moisturiser. It did a good job at keeping my skin hydrated without clogging my pores or causing any negative reaction.

Although it took a while to get used to, I do like that it comes in a hygienic pump packaging which dispensed the fragrance-free formula easily without the need to scoop out any product using a spatula or my fingers.

The facial booster came in an easy-to-use packaging too and has a slightly thicker consistency compared to other booster serums I’ve tried so I didn’t have to use as much. However, I found it a little inconvenient that I had to mix it with the moisturiser in order to avoid the stickiness that I otherwise get when I use it on its own.

While the stickiness does dissipate after a while, it certainly wasn’t a pleasant feeling when it’s on your face and hands after applying the product. It also had a strange-smelling scent that I found hard to get used to. For me, I noticed only slight improvement in terms of pore size and skin oiliness after using the skincare combination twice a day for two weeks.

Kermaine, 32
Skin type: Combination
Skin concerns: Dehydrated skin with wrinkles and lines, visible pores, and blackheads

To take care of my pores and slight skin oiliness, I try to go for facials at my preferred beauty salon twice a month if my schedule permits. As my skin tends to be a little on the oilier side, I go through blotting sheets more often than a  regular person.

While I didn’t notice any significant difference on my skin with the moisturiser, I did fall in love with the innovative pump packaging which allowed me to dispense the product in a very hygienic manner. Aside from that, it also didn’t take up much space on my vanity and has zero scent which is a major plus point.

The velvety booster is my favourite out of the two – my skin became very radiant after using it and any greasiness was kept under control after using it for as little as five days.

I have to admit, the booster felt a little sticky at first but surprisingly, my skin absorbed it rather quickly and well – the formula is definitely a small but mighty skincare must-have.

Wendy, 31
Skin type: Combination
Skin concerns: Dull, textured skin with uneven skin tone, wrinkles and lines, dehydration, visible pores, and blackheads

I typically exfoliate two to three times a week and go for a balancing facial on a monthly basis to address my pore concerns. I’d also tend to avoid products that may be too oily for my skin, so I try to stick to non-comedogenic products.

I was very impressed by how lightweight the moisturiser felt! I didn’t have to worry about it clogging my pores or leaving any residue on my skin. Apart from the air-pump packaging, I also like that it doesn’t make my skin too greasy during the day.

I had a generally favourable experience with the pore-minimising booster. It has a texture that spreads well on the face and even helps lighten my old acne scars a little but having said that, it did cause a bit of breakout during the review period.

Snowperk Reader Review Kuan Yee Before After

Kuan Yee, 30
Skin type: Combination-oily skin
Skin concerns: Dehydrated, textured skin with visible pores and blackheads

I use a combination of cleansing oil and enzyme-based serums to remove gunk, combat oiliness, and minimise pores. When it comes to facial moisturisers however, most of the ones I’ve used in the past didn’t work well for me as the formulas were too wet or sticky and they cause my face to become oily really fast.

With the snowperk moisturiser, I found that the quick-absorbing formula is on par with the current one I’m using in terms of hydration that doesn’t aggravate my skin oiliness. On the very first day of usage itself, I noticed that my face wasn’t as oily and showed only minimal oiliness even until late at night.

I’d say that it definitely is better than most other moisturisers I’ve tried, as it also allowed my sunscreen and makeup to be applied over really easily.

The lightweight facial booster also delivered what it promised, which is to minimise my pores. It didn’t affect the application of my subsequent skincare products, and has even let me cover my pores with just a basic primer now.

Snowperk Reader Review Candice Before After

Left: Before using the snowperk skincare products | Right: After snowperk skincare products for 14 days

Candice, 38
Skin type: Oily, acne-prone skin
Skin concerns: Dull, dehydrated skin with uneven skin tone

I resort to chemical exfoliation and a deep-cleansing mask twice a week to address my skin concerns and I have to admit, I was initially a little skeptical about this fragrance-free gel-cream that claims to be suitable for oily skin. My fear stems from many other moisturisers that made similar claims but dehydrated my skin instead and made it oily on the surface but dry underneath.

Boy, was I glad to be proven wrong – it is so lightweight that at times, I’d even forget if I had applied the moisturiser. My skin not only stayed oil-free throughout the day but also remained supple, soft, and hydrated thanks to this moisturiser.

For me, I prefer using the facial booster on its own followed by the gel-cream as I found that my skin absorbs it better that way compared to mixing it with the moisturiser. I’m happy to report that my skin’s overall texture did improve after 14 days and I’m already planning on repurchasing the pore-refining booster now that I’ve run out of it!

Snowperk Reader Review Annabelle Before After Revised

Annabelle, 31
Skin type: Combination-oily skin
Skin concerns: Dehydrated, textured skin with uneven skin tone, visible pores, and blackheads

For me, I use facial scrubs as well as AHA and BHA exfoliants in my skincare routine supplemented by a weekly deep-cleansing mask. I also consciously avoid skincare formulas that are too thick or oily for my skin.

With the snowperk moisturizer, I especially like that it’s free from fragrance and has a light, velvety texture that suits my combination skin very well. The pump packaging is also something I like as well – it’s so convenient to use, not to mention more hygienic too.

Full disclosure: I’ve never tried a pore-refining serum before but I’m pleasantly surprised at the snowperk formula as it’s lightweight and absorbs really fast. I also appreciate the dropper packaging, which is sanitary and easy to use.

Belinda, 37
Skin type: Combination, acne-prone skin
Skin concerns: Dehydrated, textured skin with wrinkles and lines, visible pores, and blackheads

Nowadays, I opt for clay masks and on occasion, I even reach for gentle chemical exfoliants like BHA to treat my skin concerns. I also use anti-ageing products and sheet masks, as well as consume beauty supplements.

I enjoyed using the gel-cream, mainly thanks to its lightweight, quick-absorbing formula. It didn’t interfere with my sunscreen at all even though I’d applied SPF right after using the moisturiser. After two weeks, I found that my skin looked more refined and I’m really pleased with the results.

As for the facial booster, it felt a little tacky when I first used it but I’m surprised that it absorbed really quickly. I’ve tried using it both ways: using it before the gel-cream and also mixing it together with the gel-cream – both methods worked fine for me. I even tried using more than the recommended dosage of three to four pumps but to my surprise, the formula still absorbed into the skin really well.

Snowperk Reader Review Hui Lin Before After

Hui Lin, 34
Skin type: Combination-oily, sensitive skin
Skin concerns: Textured skin with uneven skin tone, visible pores, and blackheads

For my skincare routine, I previously used peel off masks weekly before recently changing it to an exfoliating scrub mask which I used twice weekly to treat my skin concerns. I also incorporate a pore minimising serum in my daily skincare regime.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the moisturiser as it left my skin feeling soft and moisturised all day long. I also enjoy using the product because of its pump packaging which is very practical and hygienic.

Meanwhile, the concentrated facial booster, which is said to control sebum, has kept my acne breakouts under control and reduced the appearance of my pores after two weeks.
