By now, everyone should already be aware of The Body Shop and their Tea Tree line. As we’ve mentioned before in some of our previous articles, tea tree is good for anti-bacterial purposes, and it helps soothe problematic areas on the skin. Adding onto their tea tree line, The Body Shop introduced their Tea Tree BB cream that’s formulated to suit and soothe blemished skin while still providing coverage. We put it to the test and here are our thoughts on it!
About The Product
The BB cream claims to be suitable for blemished skin, and it says that it provides instantly spotless-looking skin. It retails for SGD 29.90 and has three shades, (from lightest to darkest) 01, 02 and 03, to choose from to suit your skin tone.
The Test

Upon application, the most distinct thing was the scent- it had a strong tea tree scent that was quite overpowering.
With one thin layer, it gave very little coverage. If you want a higher coverage, you can build the product up. Despite that, it still managed to even out the skin tone fairly well. But not enough to claim that it will make your skin “instantly spotless.”
The BB cream was quite easy to blend and unlike many others, this BB cream set quite matte on my normal to dry skin, so I didn’t even use a setting powder over it. Honestly, I was very pleased with how it looked and felt throughout the day!
However, four to five hours in, my T-zone got a little oily. But don’t worry, it didn’t reach to a point where I looked like a kuali (wok in Malay). It may look like there is no obvious difference between the before and after pictures, but if you look closely, it evened out the skin tone well and gave a fresh look to the face. Overall, it was very comfortable to wear. It didn’t irritate my skin, or accentuate the dry areas I had on my face.
What We Love About The The Body Shop Tea Tree BB Cream
- It comes in a nifty little tube of 40ml, which is very sanitary and easy to travel with
- It’s suitable for blemished skin. It’s relatively difficult to find a product that helps soothe the skin while still providing coverage
- Lightweight and comfortable to wear
- Decent, buildable coverage
- Has a matte finish (prepare a blot powder in hand, just in case you get oily throughout the day)
What We Don’t Love
- Just one thing – and that’s the scent!
Definitely give this a try if you are looking for a BB cream that will not aggravate blemished skin and if you’re alright with the scent of the product.
