Do you actually think all celebrities have flawless skin? Probably not – everyone has their bad days. But what makes their complexion glow before the camera on the red carpet? Great makeup, of course! Especially if you haven’t aced your whitening regime, here are seven tricks you can pick up to fake that radiant complexion.
1. Use a hydrating base
Begin your makeup routine with the most important step of all – prime your skin. Moisturise thoroughly or use a hydrating primer to make sure makeup will go on more smoothly. Hydrating your skin also helps reduce the appearance of creases from makeup and emphasis of fine lines.

2. Choose liquid foundation over powder
If you want your skin to look more radiant, go for a dewy look with the help of liquid foundation. It has more light-reflecting ability compared to that of powder, and can make your skin look brighter. Alternatively, you can also go for a BB cream.
Try: Estee Lauder Crescent White BB Creme
3. Less is really more
Apply your foundation using a brush or sponge. Dot it onto skin and blend it gradually. Start with just a small amount of foundation and slowly build up its intensity. Keep it light because too much foundation can make your complexion look dull and unnatural.
4. Conceal discreetly
Avoid concealers with thick consistency and consider light-diffusing concealers that are lightweight instead. Blend out the concealer with a brush or your finger so that it’s subtle.

5. Bring on the highlighter
To make your features “wake up”, apply highlighter on key areas such as the forehead, cheekbones and chin.
Try: Guerlain Meteorites
6. Play with colours
To avoid looking pale, remember to work with colours. Pastel coloured blusher can make your skin look more luminous, and a bold lip colour can offer a stronger contrast to the perfect base you’ve created on your skin.
7. Set your makeup
Don’t forget to set your makeup, to prevent it from budging. Smudged makeup gives a “dirty” look and make your complexion look duller than it actually is. If you’re afraid that the matte finish of powder will diminish the radiance of your makeup, consider a setting mist instead. A setting mist can also offer further hydration to your skin.
