If you’re an avid K-drama fan, there’s no way you haven’t heard of the latest tvN series that’s been blowing up on social media – It’s Okay Not To Be Okay. The drama stars the ethereal Seo Ye-Ji (Hwarang, Moorim School) and the charming Kim Soo Hyun (My Love From Another Star, Dream High), and tells the love story between a psychiatric ward worker and a popular fairytale novelist who suffers from antisocial personality disorder.
While it’s undeniable that we’re hooked on the plot, we can’t help but admit that another huge reason why we can’t take our eyes off the screen is due to Seo Ye-Ji’s enchanting visuals. Fortunately for us, her makeup artist, Myungsun Lee, who also styles girl group BLACKPINK and actress Park Min-young, has revealed the exact lipstick brands used to beautify Seo Ye-Ji’s alluring character Ko Mun-yeong in the first three episodes! We’ll break them down for you here.
1. Rouge Hermes Satin Lipstick – Rouge Casaque
In the very first episode, we are introduced to our female lead, popular children’s author Ko Mun-yeong, played by Seo Ye-ji. The character is dressed in dark, classy attire and sports a fierce red lip, as she sips wine and slices into a bloody steak.
In this scene, the actress is wearing Rouge Hermes Satin Lipstick in shade 64 — Rouge Casaque. This long-lasting, velvety lipstick is made in Italy, and leaves your lips feeling supple and moisturised. While it’s no doubt a little costly, this elegant shade will have you radiating with sophistication and poise.
Get it at the following Hermes Beauty counters in Liat Towers, Marina Bay Sands and Takashimaya, or on their website for SGD103.
2. Mac Satin Lipstick – Peachstock + PUPA I’m Matt Lipstick – Mystery Rose
In the same first episode, Seo Ye-ji’s character Ko Mun-yeong goes on to have a live storytelling session at the psychiatric ward where she first meets Moon Gang-tae, played by Kim Soo Hyun. Her lips take on a much lighter, pink tone here, creating an overall glamorous and chic appearance.
Here, Seo Ye-ji wears a blend of MAC Satin Lipstick in Peachstock (right) and PUPA I’M Matt Lipstick in no. 30 Mystery Rose (left). The combination of both satin and matte finishes give her lips a shimmering smooth touch for an MLBB look.
3. Moonshot Honey Coverlet Stick Extreme Lipstick – Petal Petal + NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil – Get off
In the second episode, author Ko Mun-yeong holds a book signing event that is visited by caregiver Moon Gang-tae and his autistic older brother, who is a huge fan of Ko’s writing. Pictured above, Ko coolly faces off with Moon in an intimidating yet sexy confrontation. It’s also in this scene where she drops her seductive one-liner, “A trauma should be faced head-on like this.”
Seo Ye-ji charms viewers here in MOONSHOT Honey Coverlet Stick Extreme Lipstick in 902 Petal Petal (left) and NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Get Off (right), creating a stylish, dark pink finish.
4. MAC Matte Lipstick – Kinda Sexy + NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick – Get Off
In Episode 3, Ko Mun-yeong is relentless in her pursuit of Moon Gang-tae’s heart and travels down to his (and non-coincidentally also her own) hometown to guest lecture at his new hospital workplace.
In this classroom scene, the actress sports the same NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Get Off (left) that she wore in Episode 2, but this time with MAC Matte Lipstick in Kinda Sexy (right). Her lip tone here is a lot more nude, but pair it off with an immaculate fashion sense and you get a look that’s just as voguish as her earlier appearances.

5. BONUS: YSL Water Stain Lipstick – Submerged Coral + MAC Shot of Color Lip Oil Gloss – Bang Bang Baby
GOLDMEDALIST, Seo Ye-ji and Kim Soo Hyun’s talent agency, recently released publicity photos of Seo dolled up like an angel in white. Myungsun Lee was also the artist behind Seo’s makeup for this shoot, and she kindly divulged the lip products used in it as well. Although this look wasn’t a part of the drama, it certainly can’t hurt for us to gain a little more K-beauty inspiration!
Seo Ye-ji’s lips are painted here in Yves Saint Laurent’s Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain Lip Gloss in 609 Submerged Coral (left) and MAC’s Shot of Color Lip Oil Gloss in Bang Bang Baby (right). The mix of the two glosses wrap around the star’s lips in a shiny, baby pink film, presenting a pretty picture of innocence.
