Face it, there are times when we are guilty of not taking care of our locks because of our busy and hectic schedules. But hair care doesn’t have to be a chore. Here are five hair tips that you can try, no matter how busy you are!

1. Condition your hair the night before

Conditioning your hair can help keep frizz at bay, which means your hairstyle can budge less throughout the day. But if conditioning your hair in the morning means sacrificing your sleep-in time, then consider deep conditioning products that are able to give lasting effect on the hair, and use them the night before.

Wonder Overnight Recovery - with Packaging

Try: Percy & Reed’s Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery. For the time-starved, this is an overnight leave-in conditioner you apply onto dry hair before bed (this means you don’t have to wash your hair and wait for it to dry before you sleep) and wash off the next morning when you shower. Don’t worry, the product is not greasy and will not dirty your pillow! Once applied, you can go straight to bed, or wait for a couple of minutes for the product to melt into your hair. Voila! Conditioned, smooth, and sleek hair, with minimal time spent in the shower in the morning!

The Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery will be available from October 2016 onwards at Sephora stores.

2. Choose the proper shampoo for your hair type and concerns

If you’ve been skipping styling your hair and just giving up on getting it to look good, perhaps you should use a shampoo that will help to make it look its best.

URBAN Care Haircare Products

From left to right: Argan Oil, Biotin, Care Collagen, Care Intense

Try: URBAN Care Shampoos come in four types to suit different hair concerns: For Dry and Brittle Hair, for Hair Loss and Weak roots, for thin, dry and frizzy hair and for excessively damaged and over processed hair. They help target at the exact hair problems you face. Get this basic step right and you’ll certainly be seeing better hair days. They retail at SGD14.90 each, and are available at Watsons.

3. Keep your hairstyle on point all day with a… hair primer!

Just like how a face primer can help your makeup last all day, a hair primer can help your hairstyle stay the same way for the entire day. This means less time spent on trying to “save” your hair by mid-day or applying too much dry shampoo at the end of the day just to keep them from looking limp and flat.

Try: Percy & Reed’s Perfectly Perfecting Wonderbalm. This hair primer helps to ensure that any styling done will last all day. It’s neither sticky nor greasy and it smells amazing! Apply it on towel dried hair from roots to tips and follow up with styling. You can also apply some product after you’re done styling to give it a little bit more ooomph.

It retails at SGD40 from Sephora.sg

4. Leave that curl/blowout to cool!

This tip comes from hair maestro Percy from Percy & Reed, a leading hair care brand. When we asked why it’s so difficult to keep the shape and volume curls and make them last for a long time, he says that it’s because we don’t let them fully cool, which is an important factor to retaining their shape.

“Use a round brush when drying the hair and twist the hair using the brush. Let the waves or curls form and let them cool. It’s important to let them cool so that their shape will remain!”

– Percy

To save time on cooling the curls, consider using a blowdryer on the cool setting to set your hairstyle and make it look glossy!

Try: The Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer is probably one of the most advanced hairstyling tools in the market. It’s known to be less noisy, dries the hair faster (time-saver alert!) and with minimal heat damage as compared to regular hairdryers. It’s also ergonomically designed so that you won’t suffer from an aching arm after using it! You can read our review on the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer for the low-down. It retails at SGD599 and is available at all major department stores and electrical multiples.

5. Tame and smooth flyaways

Being in and out of air-conditioned rooms teamed up with Singapore’s humidity may cause our hair to get frizzy and we’d end up having to deal with flyaways. It may even make our hair look drier than it actually is! While hair mask can take time to do, leave-in serums deliver the same nourishing benefits with a lot less time commitment.

Try: Kiehl’s Smoothing Oil-Infused Leave in Hair Concentrate. Use a little amount of this hair concentrate to smooth it over frizz and the ends of the hair to nourish it.

It retails at SGD43 from Kiehl’s counters and stores.
