International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on 8 March, to celebrate womanhood and to show appreciation towards women. We also remember it is the fight that our predecessors have put up that allowed us to have the right to work, vote and do many other things we enjoy today. Daily Vanity celebrates it in our own way – through three different work looks that we’ve put together for you.
We know that women are often expected to be multi-taskers (and we expect that of ourselves too!) and time is precious to us. That’s why these looks are hassle-free and can be achieved in within 15 minutes. Here we go!
Easy, Elegant, Everyday Work Makeup
If your office has a stricter culture where heavy makeup is frowned upon, go for something understated yet elegant. This look features glowing skin and natural-looking blusher and lip colour.
However, take a closer look and you’d notice the champagne shade of the new Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow has a reflective effect that adds dimension to the look.
These are the products we used:
From left:
Guerlain Meteorites Perles du Paradis – This is applied only at the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin to add highlight to the complexion. This helps to create the look of radiance on the skin.
YSL Beaute Blush Radiance #6 – Featuring two shades (one matte and one shimmer), it creates a healthy-looking flush on the cheeks.
Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadow in 90 Convoitise – This is a cream-based shadow that lasts super long. The subtle sheen and neutral shade make this wearable, be it alone or when used as a highlight.
Chanel Le Blanc Fluid Foundation – This is likely to be my current favourite foundation, with its great coverage and lightweight finish. It also carries a subtle floral fragrant.
Burberry Lip Cover in #23 English Rose – A go-to lipstick for just about any occasion and goes with almost any look. If you’re running out of inspiration, just apply this hydrating lipstick.
Lancome Hypnose Star – To speak volumes about your sense of aesthetics with your eyes, lush lashes are a must. The latest star mascara from Lancome is great at achieving great volume and length.
Dressy Work Makeup
If you’re a huge makeup junkie who can’t give up her eyeshadow, this may just be the right look for you. You can never go wrong with brown and earth tones on the eyes for work. To add just that bit of pizzazz to this work look, we also applied a glittery lip gloss. You may opt for a nude or pink lipstick.
These are the products we used:
From left:
Burberry Complete Eye Palette in #5 Dark Spice – Consisting of four shades that complement one another, this is an eye palette that can easily take you from work to play.
VMV Hypoallergenics Ooh La Lash mascara – This brand is known for formulating products that offer TLC to even those with sensitive skin, including its makeup products. For a “gentle” mascara, this is a surprising good performer that delivers great volume to the lashes.
Stila Sun Bronzing Powder Shade 02 – For a healthy glow and to create a more serious impression, you can consider swapping blusher for a light-toned bronzer.
Lancome Color Fever Gloss Beige Paradise – This is a glittery lip gloss that can amp up the glam factor to the overall look easily.
Bold Boardroom Makeup
Two easy ways to look a little intimidating (sometimes it’s needed at work): Dark and thick eyeliner, and bold lipstick. The cat eye makeup may be a little too sultry for work, so instead of winging up the eyeliner, draw it straight instead. This enlarges the eyes while keeping the look work-appropriate.
These are the products we used:
From top, then left:
L’Oreal Paris Lash Architect 4D – This delivers length to lashes without significant smudges.
Bobbi Brown Blush in Pastel Pink 33 – From the limited edition Lilac Rose Collection, this is a wearable blusher that gives you a healthy-looking glow.
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in #3 – A hydrating lipstick that provides great colour payoff and a glossy finish.
Kiehl’s Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream – BB Creams are a great way to save time. This one comes with vitamin C for added skincare benefit.
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner – One of the best gel eyeliners around that provides strong colour and holds well for the entire day.
