You’ve probably heard this all your life: the three basic steps of skincare are cleansing, toning and moisturising. While they form the foundation of any skincare routine, they’re simply not enough if you want to see visible change to your skin. Want to propel your routine and make your skincare products work for you? Consider these other steps in your regime – we assure you they will still be as easy as 1-2-3.
You need to exfoliate regularly
Through natural metabolic function of our body, our skin sheds cells on its own that settle on the surface of our skin. If these dead skin cells are not removed regularly, they can clog your pores, leading to the appearance of blackheads and pimples. The layer of dead skin cells also makes your skin appear duller, and prevent skincare products from penetrating into your skin effectively.
Include an exfoliating step into your skincare regime at least once a week. This way, you’ll ensure that your skin is always ready to receive the skincare goodness from the products you have invested in, and only newer, fresher-looking skin cells are revealed at the surface.
Invest in a serum
Every product in your skincare regime serves a different purpose. A cleanser removes impurities and grime from your skin, a toner or lotion balances the pH level of your skin to prep it for the rest of your skincare regime, and a moisturiser serves as a barrier on the surface of your skin to prevent moisture loss. To see a visible improvement in your skincare concern, what you need is a potent serum. We’ve previously shared with you five reasons why it is important, and we can’t emphasise them more.
We recommend the Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate, which we tried and are absolutely in love with. This lightweight serum draws inspiration from gene science technology to unlock your skin’s youth potential. A Lancome best-seller, the serum targets “ten signs of youth”, namely: fine lines, coarse wrinkles, radiance, clarity, evenness, texture, resiliency, tonicity, firmness, sagginess. With the improvement of these ten dimensions, you’ll find that your skin feels smoother and looks better – two skincare achievements all of us would love to attain, we’re quite sure!
Don’t neglect your eye area
A common mistake that most people make when it comes to their skincare regime is to forget about eye care. You may already have a very comprehensive routine that involves a regular exfoliator and serum, or even ampoules and masks, but if you forget about taking care of your peepers, your skincare regime isn’t a complete one.
Studies have shown that the first feature that men are drawn to in a woman is her eyes. This is no surprise, and is probably why you probably spend most of your time during your makeup routine focusing on making your eyes look brighter and bigger.
The skin around our eyes is more delicate than the skin on the rest of our face, so it is more susceptible to signs of ageing. It doesn’t help that the blinking movement further tires out and weakens the skin around the eyes faster than other parts of the face. This is why, if you’d like to preserve the appearance of youth, you’ll need to pay extra attention to them.
You should make skincare products for the eyes a highlight of your skincare routine. To complement the Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate that we love, and that we know works effectively, add the Lancome Advanced Genifique Yeux Light-Pearl and Youth Activating Eye Concentrate to your routine.
Like your facial skin, pamper your peepers with a serum and a cream. The Lancome Advanced Genifique Yeux Light-Pearl is an eye serum that is easily absorbed and not greasy. It also comes with a pearl applicator that gives a cooling massage to the eye area so that the appearance of puffiness can be subdued. Follow up this step with the Youth Activating Eye Concentrate, a velvety cream that deeply moisturises the eye area, so that lines can be diminished visibly.
