There are many boutique fitness centres in Singapore that feature quirky, innovative workout classes that will blow your mind. They might not be as visible as your big gyms out there, but the travelling is definitely worth it!

The best part? Trial classes are heavily discounted, and in some cases, even free. In this article, we collated seven of our favourites that we hope will reignite your fitness regime.

1. Aqua Spin

Aqua Spin is a popular European fitness craze that just started to hit Singapore. Its classes will have you spinning in stationary position underwater to achieve a whole body workout experience. Because of the buoyancy and resistance of water, you will find that the motions are intensive yet gentle at the same time. It is said that you’ll burn up to 800 calories per hour with the Aqua Spin! Someone say whaaaaaat??

2. 7Cycle’s Signature Ride

7Cycle is indoor cycling reinvented. It incorporates a variety of intensity and riding positions that is suitable for all fitness levels to help train your endurance and stamina. Together with a short-rep, light-weight workout for your arms and shoulders, you are promised a full body workout experience that will probably leave you aching from head to toe! The best part: you’ll be working out along the beats of specially selected, exclusive 7Cycle mixes and other likeminded individuals (whose motivation would probably shame you into persisting). Now who said exercise is boring again?

3. Surfset

Surfset combines the cardio and core benefits of spinning of Spinning and Yoga respectively, performed on top of a custom-made unstable surfboard meant to simulate a real surfing experience. This unique workout would help you burn fat, build lean muscles, and improve your balance and core all in one session! We really can’t find anything to dislike about Surfset. You could probably even learn how to surf with this workout without hitting the waves!

4. Boogie Bounce Extreme

Boogie Bounce is a complete exercise programme on a mini trampoline with a safety bar, with exercises choreographed to chart-topping music. A single session ensures every single muscle in your body is worked; targeting your cardio, bums, tummy and thighs! Don’t take our work for it though, ask the NASA scientists, who have found that bouncing on a mini trampoline is 68% more effective than jogging and yet requires less effort.

Unfortunately, Boogie Bounce Extreme seems to only have roving classes as of now. The upcoming class Telok Ayer CC on the 6 June, and tickets are going fast at SGD15 each. However, judging from the overwhelming positive feedback on their Facebook page, we have no doubt Boogie Bounce Extreme will be finding a permanent home soon!

5. Upside Motion’s Antigravity Aerial

Although Upside Motion offers three different kinds of classes, its Antigravity Aerial workout stood out to us the most. With a special fabric swing that gives you constant support, you will achieve poses such as mid-air handstands and flips. This safe, low-impact exercise regime promises to help you strengthen your core muscles, improve posture, reduce tension in the neck and spine (good for those who work desk-bound jobs) and increase flexibility and mobility in the hips, spines and shoulders.

6. Ori Tahiti

Ori Tahiti is the traditional Tahitian dance that is characterised by dynamic and sensual movements along with energetic drumbeats and joyful songs. First to hit the shores of Singapore in January 2013, it is still a relatively new form of dance that serves as great exposure to the Polynesian culture. Apart from being known as a great workout for the core, gluts and legs, Ori Tahiti also helps you to boost your spirits with its jubilant music.

7. Superfly Monkey Dragons

You’ve probably heard of parkour before through the crazy YouTube videos featuring adrenaline-charged individuals performing stunts that seem to defy gravitational logic. Superfly Monkey Dragons is an academy based in Singapore that aims to develop your mind, body and spirit through parkour. With its carefully-crafted sessions, you will be able to strengthen your body and develop control, coordination and balance.

Damage: Superfly Monkey Dragons hosts many sessions island-wide, with various packages depending on the programme itself.
