3. “You should do X exercise to lose weight! I did that last time!”
This one’s mostly well-meaning, but rather overbearing. This person isn’t asking you to “try” a new exercise format. Instead, this new workout format is being pushed into your face as the solution to all your problems. It’s not that you don’t want to try, it’s just that you’re embarking on your own workout plan, a learning journey that suits your body. Of course, some people just don’t understand that.
What you can say: Be clear that you’re on your path, but also never say never: “I’m actually working on mastering [Activity] first, but I’ll definitely add your suggestion once I’m ready to move forward!”
