4. “Hey, don’t exercise today. Go for dinner/drinks with us.”
This line is the single greatest temptation when you’re in the workout groove and have your routine established. It will worm its way into your brain and get you to consider the possibility of skipping this one workout. But remember, whenever you skip a workout, you’re always at risk of missing subsequent sessions and falling into a workout rut.
What you can say: We get that these are friends that want to hang out with you. Regardless, it’s important to set boundaries. That’s why it’s always good to provide alternatives: “I really can’t skip this workout, but I am free on these days…”
