Kids’ haircut at fun locations

Scissors Paper Stone

kids haircut salon singapore -

Fun Fact: Scissors Paper Stone wasn’t named on a whim! “Scissors” stands for the grooming service that is at the core of their business, “Paper” represents the array of educational toys available for children to play with there, and “Stone” embodies physical fitness for your child.

Most children aren’t known for handling waiting times very well. Thankfully, this kids’ haircut salon employs a reminder service, where you register for a queue number on an iPad so that you’re free to walk around the shopping mall with your child before it’s their turn. Don’t underestimate how cutting the unnecessary queue time can make the entire haircut experience go a lot more smoothly for you and your kid!

Huaxia Taimaobi

kids haircut salon singapore - (7)

You probably knew that Chinese parents sometimes celebrate their baby’s first month by shaving their hair. Did you also know that the tradition goes further where some parents not only keep their kid’s hair as memento, but even choose to turn them into calligraphy brushes? This practice apparently goes all the way back to the Tang dynasty, more than a millennium ago.

These calligraphy brushes are called taimaobi, and Huaxia Taimaobi is one of the centres in Singapore that provide this service. Founded in 2003, Huaxia Taimaobi’s brush-processing masters boast at least 25 years of experience in their trade. They welcome visitors to their brush-making facility at Toa Payoh to witness their meticulous process. Brushes can cost from S$38 to S$400+, depending on the design and type of wood you’d like. If you do choose a brush, your baby’s haircut will be free of charge.

If, however, you simply want a haircut for your kid without any frills, Huaxia Taimaobi charges S$21.40 for a trim done at their outlet, and S$60 if you’d like a kids’ haircut done in your home.
