Our tiny island has been doing a great job in bringing in more and more beauty brands that were once not available to us beauty junkies. Not that we’re not grateful (we are, WE ARE!) but, we watch our favourite overseas YouTubers, Instagrammers and bloggers rave about their favourite products of all time only to find out that the brand doesn’t have retail presence in Singapore. Our hopes are pretty much shattered and we start hating on the universe ’cause we think it’s unfair that we don’t get what the beauty junkies overseas get.

From luxury to drugstore, here’s our list of 8 beauty brands we wish were in Singapore. But why would we just list the brands when we can provide you with links to where you can purchase them online?

Let’s just hope that someone of power will hear our plea for these brands to be physically available in Singapore. Click next to see the first brand on our list!

1 . Charlotte Tilbury

Created by renowned makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, the brand of the same name took the beauty world by storm since its launch in 2013. As a makeup artist for celebrities like Kate Moss and Jennifer Lopez, the quality of her products meets celebrity demands.

Products you should try:

a. Lipsticks

They’re pigmented, comfortable and from a first-hand experience – the Matte Revolution Lipsticks smell like chocolate. Need we say more? The maroon-and-rose-gold packaging for the lipstick is to die for. And rose gold lipstick bullet? WHY NOT.

b. Filmstar Bronze and Glow

This is known to be a bronzer and highlighter palette that’s great for a variety of skin tones. (They have one for light to medium, and medium to dark skin tones). It gives definition to the face without needing crazy strobing skills.

2 . Anastasia Beverly Hills

While we are all ecstatic that cult beauty brands like Becca and Hourglass have finally arrived on our little island, we need Anastasia Beverly Hills too. They offer wonderful brow products, and we really need them for the sake of our brows. The brand has also recently launched a series of liquid lipsticks, lip glosses, highlighting powders and eyeshadows – all of which have received a lot of positive feedback from beauty enthusiasts and makeup artists around the world.

Did You Know?

Anastasia Soare, makeup artist and CEO of Anastasia Beverly Hills is from Romania and she runs the company together with her daughter, Claudia!

Products you should try:

a. Anastasia Brow Wiz

Many have deemed this as a product they cannot live without. Fit with a skinny eyebrow shade one one end and a spoolie on the other, it makes filling in the eyebrows incredibly easy.

b. Anastasia Contour Kit

For a brief moment in the beauty world, every beauty YouTuber was featuring this product to contour their faces. A particular shade that’s a hit with everyone is the “banana” shade that’s usually used to set and/or highlight the under eye area to give a brightening effect.

3. Kat Von D (now KVD Vegan Beauty)

If you follow L. A. Ink, you’ll certainly be familiar with Kat Von D? The hot (and probably the only) chick in the tattoo reality TV series who designs and does tattoo art. Even though the brand has only been around for about two years, her makeup brand has been producing more and more products that are slowly creeping into the favourites lists of many beauty enthusiasts.

Products you should try:

a. Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette

A lot of buzz has been circling around this contour palette and many have expressed that it may be better than Anastasia’s contour kit. According to bloggers and YouTubers who have tried this palette, the shades in this product are versatile, creamy, and easy to blend.

b. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

Kat Von D doesn’t ever show up without her signature eyeliner look, which is why it’s probably not surprising that one of her most raved-about product is this eyeliner.  A favourite among many, it apparently stays on all day and has a felt tip that allows the user to draw eyeliner with utmost precision.

4. Rimmel London

Bringing forth a more affordable brand, can someone explain why this amazing brand is not available in Singapore anymore? (They were, for a short period of time. Only Rimmel nail polishes are available in drugstores in Singapore now.But we want more!) Rimmel is a drugstore brand from the UK and it’s a hit with not just the UK beauty bloggers, but in the US as well.

Products you should try:

A lightweight powder perfect for touch-ups or to set your makeup in place. Even makeup-artists-turned-YouTubers Tanya Burr and Tati Westbrook swear by this powder.

b. Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl Kajal Eyeliner

Who says you need to break the bank for an awesome black eyeliner? This eyeliner is jet black, creamy and it doesn’t transfer – which means no panda eyes, yay!

5. Covergirl

The US brand used to be in Singapore, but is no longer so. They’re known for their affordable mascaras, lipsticks, and foundations. We would love some more affordable foundation, please!

Products you should try:

a. Covergirl lipsticks

It’s said that Taylor Swift’s signature red lipstick is a Covergirl lipstick. If that’s not a good enough reason to be a standout product, we don’t know what is. In all seriousness, Covergirl does have one of the best affordable lipsticks that come in a range of finishes and colours.

b. Mascaras

Covergirl has an incredibly extensive mascara collection. You’ll probably be able to find a formula that would address your eyelashes’ needs. One of the most highly-raved about Covergirl mascaras is the Covergirl Lash Blast mascara.

7. Milani

Another drugstore brand from the US, Milani is a brand that’s slightly on the pricier than usual drugstore makeup. Nonetheless, they have a range of products and there are at least two amazing products in each category (face, lips, eyes). This brand was once spotted at department stores like John Little, but now you can’t find them anymore!

Products you should try:

a) Baked blushes

The most well-known baked blush from Milani is Luminoso. It’s a beautiful peach shade with gold flip to it. It’s not shimmery, but when placed on the cheeks it gives a beautiful sheen!

8. Jouer

While it’s not a huge brand that everyone talks about, there are products in this brand that are said to be amazing. It’s one of those low-profile brands that should get more attention than it actually does.

Products to try:

a) Jouer Matte Moisture Tint

Now doesn’t this sound like something we need in Singapore? A lightweight foundation that keeps our skin matte, while still hydrates the skin.

b) Jouer Longwear Lip Créme

Even though this is a new product, YouTuber Tati Westbrook says that it’s one of her favourite liquid lipstick formulas. While liquid lipsticks are really in trend at the moment, she finds that majority of them are too incredibly drying. But the Jouer Lip Crémes are matte, and they don’t make your lips dry.
