We may not entirely agree that beauty retail stores are considered non-essential services, and the strict Circuit Breaker measures that are currently in place have us missing the interaction we’ve had with some of our favourite beauty advisors and retail shopping experience. (The first part of the sentence is a joke, in case it flew over you.)
To make sure that these measures can’t keep us and our favourite brands apart, beauty brands have turned to innovative ways to reach out to customers during this period. Here are some of the initiatives that caught our eyes.
Call Clarins for free consultations
The spa experience and skin rituals that French beauty brand Clarins is well known for are suspended right now. But the brand has introduced the Clarins & Me initiative, where you get to discover personalised skin rituals with Clarins’ team of beauty experts over the phone. And the best part? This consultation is absolutely free.
Simply pick from five easy, do-it-youself rituals from their beauty menu, and through the phone, Clarins beauty experts will coach and share their skincare knowledge, and even dispense tips that relate to your skincare concerns.
The beauty menu options include:
- Glow Skin Essentials: achieve plump and hydrated skin with a healthy glow
- Spa Home Therapy: release inner radiance with the brand’s new Aromaphytocare range of products for comfort and vitality
- Mothers-To-Be Must-Haves: a special regime that aims to nourish the body during and after pregnancy
- Your Personalised Beauty Routine: skin consultation that completes with the solution for problem areas
- Shape-Up Body Contours: ways to eliminate the appearance of stubborn fats and cellulite to achieve a shapelier silhouette
Each session lasts for approximately 20 minutes and slots run daily from now till 4 May, from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 8pm. You can make a booking here.

Premium beauty brand Bobbi Brown Cosmetics has been engaging with customers through Facebook live videos on several relatable topics. Bobbi Brown’s beauty advisors moved from behind the counter to before your screen to share tips like how to complete your makeup in five minutes and how to achieve the two-tone lip look.
The brand has even launched a new product over Facebook live – the Hydrating Water Fresh Cream, a moisturiser that promises 100 hours of hydration. This lets their Facebook followers be among the first to learn about the product; we beauty journalists attend the same launch as everyone!

Korean eco-conscious beauty brand innisfree makes staying home extra fun by presenting a DIY Mask Making workshop on Instagram Live.
Collaborating with designer Ros Lee of lifestyle brand Polkaros, innisfree guides customers in a fun tutorial using materials that can be found at home.
On top of this, the brand has also been putting up short video clips on their Facebook page, featuring their beauty advisors. These videos showcase the advisors’ favourite products, their routine, and you may get to pick up some useful skincare tips too!
Tom Ford Beauty launches limited edition lip colours online
What’s sweeter than having your online shopping haul sent to your house with just a few simple taps? Snagging a limited edition beauty product, of course!
Tom Ford Beauty announced last Friday that they’ve launched two new lip colours that are inspired by the brand’s Private Blend Rose Prick EDP. They’re also specially packaged in limited edition Rose Prick Pink.
These two limited edition lip shades are only available online at Sephora.sg. The products have sold out very quickly, but you can add yourself to the waiting list and then hope for the best.

If you still can’t get over missing out on the Tom Ford Beauty limited edition lipstick, here’s something that might cheer you up. Estee Lauder has launched the Pure Color Love Cooling Highlighter, a limited edition product that is only available at its flagship store on Lazada.
At the time of writing, one (out of four) of the shades have already been sold out and the quantities for the other shades are low. Better get hold of it soon!
The Body Shop brings your favourite products to your doorstep – for free
The Body Shop converted its flagship store on Lazada into a page that cares for their customers during the pandemic.
Offering a guide on how to wash your hands properly, stay-home self-care tips, and how to care for your overwashed hands, the brand stays relevant to its customers with relatable content.
On top of that, The Body Shop also promises to offer free delivery – regardless of value of purchase – during the Circuit Breaker.
