Jo Malone is one of our favourite fragrance brands. We love its sleek bottles are really easy to bring along when you’re travelling, or to carry around in the bag and the simple but pretty fragrance contained in each understated bottle. Every once in a while they launch a limited edition collection, such as the Tea Fragrance Blends, not too long ago (by the way, Earl Grey and Cucumber from the limited edition collection has made a comeback, you can find it in stores now, though not for long). This March, the UK brand will be launching Sugar & Spice, a collection that inspired by candies, pastries and all things sweet and delectable.
Daily Vanity was at its media launch held at Antoinette at Penhas Road, and our eyes, nose and tongue are all treated to a grand feast. The chefs at Antoinette created pastries that are inspired by the fragrances (funny eh, the fragrances are inspired by the sweets and now the sweets take reference from the fragrances), and they were all really pretty! (And yummy!)
The Sugar & Spice collection consists of five colognes, including: Lemon Tart, Redcurrant & Cream, Elderflower & Gooseberry, Ginger Biscuit, and Bitter Orange & Chocolate.
We didn’t manage to get hold of any of the fragrances, but through the very brief sampling on the sampling slips, our favourite is probably the Elderflower & Gooseberry, which gives a very soothing and subtle scent that we thought was really pretty. Ginger Biscuit is also quite an interesting scent given that it’s both spicy and warm at the same time, and we think it would go perfectly with a floral scent. Bitter Orange & Chocolate, while it is one of our favourite sweets, is a little too “tasty” for our liking. We won’t recommend wearing it alone, lest people think you’ve fallen into a pool of chocolate and forgot to clean up.
This collection also features coloured bottles that add a touch of fun to the elegant brand.
The Jo Malone limited edition Sugar & Spice collection will be available from March 2012, at $95 for a 30ml cologne, at all Jo Malone boutiques (#02-12B, Takashimaya S.C., B1-80B, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, and Tangs Orchard, Level 1.)
