Masks — a boon and bane to wearers in this pandemic. While it does prevent the transmission of bacteria to others, a mask can lead to the familiar worldwide mayhem of ‘maskne’.

But unbeknownst to many, there is another problem at play affecting an even larger population, and it is none other than ‘mask breath’.

Odours that you wouldn’t normally notice suddenly become heightened, especially after a lunch break. And while that KFC chicken you ate may be finger-lickin’ good, the post-meal breath is a whole other story.

Thankfully, the beauty community has come to our aid with a brand new product that can provide a little relief from the gnarly stench: scented stickers.

Crafted by French apothecary brand L’Officine Universelle Buly 1803, these scented patches provide an instant refreshment through their olfactive notes of peppermint, lemon, and eucalyptus.

Simply attach one sticker to the outer side of your mask to enjoy a bit of fresh, perfumed air and magically forget you’re even wearing a mask at all.

Each pouch comes with eight scented stickers that can be stuck on any type of mask for up to six hours. It retails at 8.33 € (S$13.30) on Buly’s official e-store, with international shipping via DHL priced at a steep cost of 21.10 € (S$33.68). We suggest that you buy with your friends to reduce the shipping cost!

Otherwise, you can opt for a cheaper alternative by a more familiar brand, Muji! Released earlier in January, Muji’s Mask Stickers also provide aromatherapy by giving off a natural fragrance to freshen up the air. However, essential oils have to be purchased separately as the stickers are not infused with scents.

To use, apply half a drop of essential oil on the centre of the sticker with a cotton bud. Then, adhere it to the outer side of the mask for a calming olfactory experience.

Each set comes with two sheets of 15 stickers each. It retails at S$6.90 and S$7.90 for the plain and patterned stickers respectively. While they’re no longer available on Muji online, they can be purchased in Muji stores and on Qoo10 at a slightly higher price.
