If you’ve never been sure about being able to pull off short hair, we found a trick that’ll help you determine just that.

This TikTok hack claims to tell you whether you’re better suited for long or short hair.

It supposedly originated from a well-known hairstylist in the United Kingdom, and takes less than a minute to perform.

There are two methods to this hack, and you’ll need to prepare a pen and a long ruler or a measuring tape.

First method: Measuring from the ear

The first method involves placing the tip of the ruler or measuring tape at the end of the ear, right under your earlobe.

Next, place the pen horizontally along your chin. Make sure that the end of the pen touches the ruler or measuring tape.

Measure the distance of the earlobe to the bottom of the chin.

If this distance is shorter than 5.7cm, you would most likely look great in short hair, and if this distance is over 5.7cm, you’re better suited for long hair.

Second method: Measuring the forehead and shoulder

First, you need to measure the width of your forehead, and then the width of your shoulders. You then take the forehead width and divide it with your shoulder width.

If this number is less than 0.47cm, you are better suited for long hair, and if it is over 0.47 cm, you should look great with short hair.

What if both methods bring different results?

Short Hair Long Hair Hack my results

I put this hack to the test and found that it gave me two different results.

For the first method, the distance from my ear to my chin is under 5.7cm, which means I am more suited for short hair.

However, the number that I got from the second method was less than 0.47cm, which means I look great with long hair.

If you too did this hack and got a different result for both, this apparently means that you can rock both long and short hair!
