Let’s call it a beauty enthusiast’s dream come true. The first-ever Singapore Beauty Week (SBW) is happening in November, and gives everyone the opportunity to experience the latest beauty treatments at attractive prices.
This online event curates merchants from different segments of the beauty industry, including hair styling, nail grooming, body massages, facial treatments, and even laser therapy – you name it. The services are extended during the 10-day event to customers who sign up at special prices.
Founders of SBW, Caryn Tan-Lim and Bernadine Reddy conceived this idea over a high tea conversation. Realising that many women they’ve spoken to perceive beauty treatments as expensive or didn’t know about the options available in the market, and so have not tried them.
Caryn and Bernadine, whose beauty indulgences include monthly hydrafacials, mani-pedi, and wash-and-blow treatments, said “That didn’t sit right with us. Then we thought: Why not create the opportunity for all women to pamper themselves with high-quality yet affordable beauty treats?”
The list of participating merchants include renowned luxury spas such as Banyan Tree Spa and Auriga Spa, and neighbourhood service providers like Dainty Beauty and House of Manicure – offering a wide array of selections for different preferences and needs.
What to try at the Singapore Beauty Week?
We sent our writers Grace and Keith for trials at two of the SBW merchants.
Grace went for the Signature Red Carpet Oxygen Facial with Freia Aesthetics, a newly opened facial studio located at Orchard Road. She described her satisfying session, “The extraction was very thorough, without leaving any redness behind. The pimples on my skin appear less obvious after the facial treatment and my skin looks healthier.”
Keith had a brow embroidery session at Dainty Beauty, located at West Coast Plaza. Master Artist Bernice has 13 years of experience in the service. Keith described the session as painless and precise. “I like how my brows turned out and am happy with the results. I live in the West so its location is also very convenient for me if I want to go for beauty appointments on weekends.”
To make the best out of SBW, Bernadine says, “Try out services that you have never tried before.”
But if you’re still unsure which services to go for, she suggests, “We have merchants who provide very natural eyelash extensions, and also merchants that offer award-winning organic facials.”
If you have been a little less experimental with beauty services such as lash extension or aesthetics treatments like botox, it is definitely a good chance for you to try them out, at 20-50% off usual prices. According to the founder’s interview with The Straits Times, SBW’s merchants are not allowed to be pushy to customers to get them to sign up for packages. The merchants were also researched and at least 50% were tested before they were included in the SBW list. This makes it more attractive to first-time customers.
To participate, you can log on to www.beautyweek.sg to select your choice of treatments. You can start booking now, but appointments will happen between 10 and 19 November. Payment is made directly to the vendor at the appointment.
