Meet the single origin hero ingredients in Diane Bonheur’s Blue Jasmine range

To power the formulas, Diane Bonheur worked with reputable farms with sustainable practices to create the key craft oils of the range.

Sourcing ingredients from all over the world, the brand eventually found two of the best single origin ingredients for the Blue Jasmine range: organic marula oil from Namibia and prickly pear oil from The Sahara in Morocco.

One of the largest African indigenous plants, the marula tree is much valued by the locals, and is fondly known as the Tree of Life.

Its nickname came about largely because nearly every part of the tree can be used in medicinal formulations as well as beauty rituals in Africa where it is cultivated, thanks to its exceptionally stable composition of antioxidants.

Blooming only once every year in July, it takes eight tonnes of prickly pear fruit to produce just one kilogramme of the oil!

Thanks to its ability to withstand harsh desert conditions, the extracted oil is excellent at retaining moisture to keep hair well hydrated. Its high content of vitamin E and omega fatty acids is also beneficial, as it works to nourish hair deeply from the inside.

Both marula and prickly pear oils used in the Blue Jasmine range are extracted via cold pressing, meaning they are expressed without the aid of heat. Using the cold pressing technique, all the nutrients within the oils are retained in high concentration without altering their chemical compositions to achieve maximum effectiveness.

“To trial the Blue Jasmine Shampoo and Treatment, I swapped out my regular products and used the Blue Jasmine range daily. For my chest-length hair, I use a full pump of the shampoo, and dispense about the size of a 20-cent coin for the conditioner.

Full disclosure: the Blue Jasmine Shampoo and Treatment have one of the lightest textures I’ve ever encountered, and I truly appreciate this watery texture because it didn’t leave a kind of residue on my hair and hands after that made me feel like I haven’t washed it off properly.

Because of its light texture, I was not expecting the shampoo to foam up as much as other shampoo variants I’ve used but boy, was I wrong. It lathered up super easily, and the foam was  surprisingly fine and light. I must say that the lather rinsed off easily too, and didn’t leave a greasy afterfeel on my scalp.

Scent wise, both products have an ultra-light refreshing floral perfume that isn’t too overpowering, although I personally would have liked the fragrance to be stronger!

After using these products for a week, I noticed that my hair had lesser tangles even right after rinsing off the shampoo. I’d usually have to rely on conditioners or treatments to detangle my hair and while the shampoo alone didn’t give the detangling effect of a conditioner, I feel that it definitely was not as drying on my hair compared to other shampoos I’ve used.

In addition, I was pleasantly surprised that the formula turned out to be so nourishing for my damaged hair despite its lightweight texture. As someone who has tried plenty of shampoos that are of the moisturising, keratin or damage repair variants, I can safely say that it delivered its promise on providing much-needed nourishment!

While I didn’t notice any significant changes of volume in my hair, I did observe positive effects on my hair’s hydration and vibrancy. I found that the frizziness in my hair has noticeably decreased, and my hair feels airier and fluffier as well after using this haircare range.

My mane is now incredibly easy to comb through with either my fingers or a comb, and there’ll hardly be any tangles that come in between.

I also find that both the products are incredibly easy to use; in fact, I am in love with the packaging of the shampoo – the gorgeous blue hue housed in a transparent bottle is just so aesthetically pleasing and looks premium, minus the hefty price tag of course.

All in all, I think that the Diane Bonheur Blue Jasmine Shampoo and Treatment duo can be easily incorporated into an individual’s daily haircare routine as the formulas are gentle and not drying at all.”
