You may have already heard of Pixi Glow Tonic. The star product of Pixi, a brand that has a huge cult following, the Pixi Glow Tonic is the most famous product by the brand and has received glowing (pardon the pun) reviews from beauty enthusiasts from all over the world.

You might have been excited when Pixi was made available in Sephora’s online store back in 2017, and its popularity has also made it a mainstay in Sephora retail stores later on.

But we’re sure you could be wondering: Is the Pixi Glow Tonic as good as the reviews you’ve seen or heard? Does it work on Asian – or specifically, Singaporean – skin? Is it a good fit with our hot and humid weather?

This is why we decided to try it on ourselves – in Singapore’s weather and on Asian complexion – to find out whether the Pixi Glow Tonic lives up to its hype, regardless of the women who try it.

Read on for the Pixi Glow Tonic review of a young woman with sensitive, acne-prone skin.

What is the Pixi Glow Tonic?

Pixi Glow Tonic is a gentle exfoliating toner that promises to deliver more even, brighter and clearer skin. It claims to remove dead skin cells to reveal healthy-glowing skin and a refined texture that looks and feels smooth, thanks to its glycolic acid content.

If you’re unfamiliar with this power ingredient, glycolic acid is an exfoliating ingredient that is commonly used to unclog pores and treat acne, dullness, uneven skin tone, and fine lines. This toner’s hypoallergenic formula is also made with botanical extracts, including aloe vera and ginseng, to soothe sensitive skin.

The Pixi Glow Tonic has several accolades under its belt, including being a winner of the Teen Vogue 2017’s Acne Awards; so you know this product is definitely a fan-favourite among beauty addicts.

The toner’s texture is very lightweight and watery – you can pour it out easily and it gets absorbed very quickly by the skin.

My pores get clogged very easily – cream moisturisers, for example, will most certainly result in a zit or two popping out immediately the next day. Hence, I definitely like that the Pixi Glow Tonic’s texture works for my skin.

How to use the Pixi Glow Tonic

You can use this as part of your morning or evening routine, or when needed, but it is recommended that you use this once a day.

However, if you have ultra sensitive skin, you may consider using it every other evening, in case the exfoliating effect feels too harsh on your skin. The steps to use the Pixi Glow Tonic are as follows:

  • Step 1: Cleanse your face.
  • Step 2: Saturate a cotton pad with Glow Tonic and sweep across face, neck and décolletage (avoiding eye area). Alternatively, users have shared that they pour the product on their palms and dab it on.
  • Step 3: Follow with a serum or moisturiser.

Pixi Glow Tonic review: Does it work?

If there’s one item in my skincare routine that I’m always eager to try new products for, it’s probably toner. It also happens to be that one step in my routine that I make sure never to skip – sometimes I get lazy and forget about my moisturisers and serums, but toner? Never.

However, I also have had my fair share of toners that didn’t quite work for my sensitive skin. Hence, I find it very important to get a toner that really works for my sensitive, acne-prone skin.

When I first used the Pixi Glow Tonic for this review, I was a bit surprised when I felt a very slight stinging sensation on my skin. It isn’t uncomfortable or painful, and I got used to it after a while, so don’t be too alarmed if you get that sensation as well.

Another thing to take note is that using products formulated with glycolic acid also comes with the possible side effect of your skin becoming very sensitive when exposed to the sun; however, I did not experience any sunburns nor inflammations while using the Pixi Glow Tonic – not even on the days that I was exposed to the hot Singapore sun for long hours!

I used this toner for about one week, mostly twice a day but occasionally switching to just once on days when my skin felt too dry. I took photographs at the start and after about one week to see whether there would be any improvement in my skin – both photographs were taken under the same lighting conditions for better comparison.

Pixi Glow Tonic Review Before And After Photos

At the start, my skin had obvious patches of red rashes and a fair bit of acne. However, I noticed that with consistent usage of the Pixi Glow Tonic over the week, my skin started to look brighter, and the red, patchy rashes were gone. It is also noticeable that my pores look like they have shrunk, especially around the cheek area where my pores are the largest.

Acne has also been reduced, particularly on the cheeks, forehead, and jawline.

I had a few bumps on my skin that wouldn’t go away no matter how many acne products I used, so I was shocked to see that my skin became so much smoother after sustained usage of Pixi Glow Tonic.

In addition, I was very impressed by how fast I managed to see these results, because most skincare products usually take some time to show any visible benefits. I also read online that you probably need at least two weeks before you will notice any positive changes to your skin, but in reality it took me just a few days to see such a big improvement in my skin condition!

I’ve also received feedback that my skin looks brighter than before, which is a clear sign that this exfoliating toner has done a fantastic job in removing dead skin cells and evening my skin tone.

Who knows, with continued usage, I may even be on my way to achieving Korean glass skin!

Pixi Glow Tonic review: What do other reviewers say?

As mentioned earlier, Pixi Glow Tonic has garnered a score of loyal fans ever since its release. On Google Reviews alone, it has a 4.5-star rating from more than 7,000 users – most of whom loved the positive effects that the exfoliating toner had on their pores, acne scars, spots, and skin dullness.

In particular, one user shared that it fixed her dry skin that’s plagued by hormonal acne while another pointed out that it helped calm the angry spots and patches on her dry skin.

Meanwhile on Influenster, over 6,700 users gave Pixi Glow Tonic 4.5 out of five stars for its pore-cleaning effect. One user, who has combination skin that gets dried out easily by harsh oil controlling products, said that she noticed significant changes in her skin’s appearance and texture after she started using the toner.

Previously suffering from congested pores and redness, she shared that the Pixi formula made her pores less clogged and she has since stopped using exfoliating cleansers in her routine because the exfoliating action from the toner alone is sufficient for her skin.

On Sephora and Cult Beauty, the Pixi Glow Tonic is rated four out of five stars with many reviewers singing praises about the mild but effective formula that targets whiteheads and dulling dead skin cells.

However, it’s important to remember that the results don’t show overnight as many of the happy users pointed out that it takes at least one week to see visible results on the skin.
