Nude lipsticks – love them or hate them, it is undeniable that they are a trend sweeping the beauty industry and one that is here to stay for good. While bright, vibrant lip colours are well and good to perk your look up, there are just some days when we want a more subtle, toned-down and clean look, or when we want to highlight another part of our face, like our eye makeup, instead of drawing attention to the lips. That’s where the beauty of nude lipsticks come in! Here are ten lipsticks in 22 nude shades you can consider adding to your makeup stash.
1. Stila Stay All Day® MATTE’ificent Lipstick
Light Toffee Nude
To add on to their Stay All Day range of liquid lipsticks, Stila has released a brand new range of Stay All Day matte lipsticks. Just like their liquid counterparts, these lipsticks pack a punch with highly pigmented colour, and are reputed to be true to their name in staying all day on the lips.
Despite the matte finish, these lipsticks have a smooth, fuss-free application thanks to the infusion of argan oil, castor oil and Vitamin E – all the better to keep your lips plump and hydrated! The range also boasts a wide selection of nude colours that are perfect for skin tones of every shade.
They will be available in Sephora and retail at SGD35 each.
2. Tarte tarteist creamy matte lip paint
Tarte’s range of creamy matte lip paints have been making waves since their release last year. Now, they’re upping their game with the Naughty Nudes addition, consisting of five new shades of widely trending nudes and browns. Our favourites are the Grunge and Brownie, which are great as edgy nude-brown shades!
Formulated with vegan-friendly ingredients, Tarte’s creamy matte lip paints are high coverage and have often been described as applying with a “mousse-like” texture, rather than the conventional glossy texture of a liquid lipstick. Some have commented that it doesn’t dry down completely matte, but users online have raved about the creamy texture of the product, and how luxurious and moisturising the formula for this lipstick was for their lips.
They are available now in Sephora stores, or on the Sephora website, selling for SGD32 each.
3. Burberry Full Kisses
Burberry’s packaging has always been one to capture attention with the sleek casings and the beautiful embossing of their signature checkered pattern on the body of the lipstick itself. With these new additions to their Full Kisses range, Burberry kicks their design up a notch with a unique flat-top bullet lipstick, designed so that you can use the flat edges to draw that precise, perfect line.
The two nude shades within the new collection, Nude and Nude Blush, cater to fairer skin tones and would be great for achieving that look of sophisticated understatement. Online reviewers have raved about how the Full Kisses lip pens give opaque coverage with one coat, and has a glossy, creamy finish, ensuring that your lips remain hydrated throughout the eight hours of wear it promises.
They are available now in TANGS at Tang Plaza, Sephora ION, or on the Sephora website, selling for SGD41 each.
4. Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Hi-Lustre Light Sculpting Lipstick
If you’re not quite ready to go nude but still want a “my lips but better” look, consider trying these two from Estée Lauder. These lipsticks are formulated with pearlescent flakes to give your lip colour a metallic sheen and an extra pop of shimmer. They apply on smoothly with a cream-gel texture, and attains opaque coverage with one coat. Nude Reveal is a dusty pink nude for fairer skin tones, and Naked Ambition is a slightly darker burgundy nude for olive skin tones.
They retail at SGD48 each.
5. Nudestix Lip Pen
Where would any list of nude lipsticks be without the inclusion of the Nudestix brand that, by virtue of its very brand name, is the most obvious candidate for consideration? The Nudestix lip pens come in four matte and four glossy shades, and all of them come in convenient, portable thin casing with brush applicators.
We’ve chosen to feature one matte and one glossy nude shade from the collection here. Nudity Gloss is a nude-brown shade with a lustrous shine to give a fresher look, and boasts ingredients to lock in the moistures on your lips. Bare Matte is a brown-peach nude which dries down to a natural matte finish. Online users have commented that the matte texture did not leave the lips feeling dehydrated and flakey, which is always a bonus.
They are available in Sephora stores at SGD37 each.

7. Urban Decay Vice Lipstick
With a whopping 100 shades of lipsticks released in Urban Decay’s latest and most widely hyped collection, surely there must be something for everyone. But we get it – wading through 100 shades of lipsticks is a daunting task, and even narrowing these down to nude shades alone doesn’t help much in the decision-making process. We’ve scoured through the web to find out the reviews of the nude shades, and have chosen to feature the most highly rated nude shades in the entire collection here.
Liar is a pink-nude that applies with a creamy texture and is suitable for lighter skin tones. It has opaque coverage, and is said to have an outstandingly smooth and even application compared to its counterparts. If that’s not enough, users have also commented that it’s more hydrating than most of the other Vice lipsticks as well! 1993 is a medium brown shade that dries to a comfortable matte finish with a slight sheen. The matte texture does not dry out the lips either! If you want something with a little extra, Backdoor is a reddish-brown with some pearlescent shimmer infused within, resulting in an opaque, metallic finish.
They are available in Sephora stores, on the Sephora website, and Urban Decay free-standing stores at VivoCity and Bugis Junction. They retail at SGD29 each.
P.S. If you need help selecting the lipsticks on the Sephora website, Liar is 3rd row from the bottom, 2nd shade from the right. 1993 is bottom row, 2nd shade from the left. Backdoor is 4th row from the bottom, 5th shade from the left.

8. Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips-Talk
Naturally, we would not miss out featuring Asian cosmetic brands here, especially when they are sometimes more affordable than Western ones. Etude House is a mainstay in the Korean cosmetic scene, and as featured earlier this year here on DV, our editor was very impressed with the nude shade featured in this collection.
BE101 is a peachy nude shade with a glossy finish that is just enough to cover the imperfections of your lips and give it a bit of lustrous healthy shine.
It is available in Etude House stores around Singapore, and retails at SGD17.90 each.
9. City Color Be Matte Lipstick
City Color has been a mainstay in American drugstores but have not been available in Singapore – until now! Not only are they priced affordably, they also have good colour payoff with high pigmentation and opaque coverage. Some users have recommended applying a lip balm first before applying this lip colour.
Latte is a very pale nude-brown shade for fairer skin tones, Taupe is a medium nude-brown with a hint of crimson, and Cappucino is the darkest nude-brown shade with brick-red undertones.
They are available from local online make-up store, Coma Makeup, and are selling at SGD8.50 each.
10. Essence Liquid Lipstick
When it comes to affordability, Essence would win hands down. For those of us who are a little hesitant about trying out nude shades and unsure whether we’d want to spend that much money on a top-brand lipstick if we don’t know whether we’d like the final look – Essence is your answer!
Almost Real is a light nude shade with warm undertones, while Nougat Kiss is a darker taupe-nude shade with hints of brown. These lipsticks apply with a creamy texture and have a lustrous, shiny finish, hiding imperfections and keeping your lips feeling hydrated throughout its wear.
They are available in selected Watson’s stores and retail SGD4.50 each.
