Scrunchies may sound so 1990s, but last year, we saw this retro hair accessory making a huge comeback  you’d practically see scrunchies holding up ponytails or around someone’s wrist everywhere!

In 2021, the scrunchies trend gets elevated – what’s hot now? – luxury scrunchies.

Yes, you heard us right! Luxury brands such as Hermès, FENDI, and Eugenia Kim have come up with scrunchies made with luxurious materials such as velvet and leather, and some are even adorned with crystals and pearls!

Blackpink member Lisa is the latest celebrity to shine a spotlight on this trend. The K-pop idol has amassed a following of almost 50 million followers on Instagram, thanks to her feminine and edgy fashion style. The 23-year-old recently posted a series of selfies featuring a Hermès Claudia Scrunchie (S$340) on her wrist, which added a bright pop of yellow to an otherwise monochrome outfit.

Hermes Scrunchie

The Hermès Claudia Scrunchie was even featured on the spring/summer 2021 runway of Celine, where the models wore the hair accessory on their upper arms.

With the recognisable and vibrant prints from the brand lined by a Hermès-orange rim, each patchwork printed silk is also cut and sewn at random, so no two scrunchies are the same.

If you were interested in snagging one for yourself, you can head to Hermes.com, where there’s still one more shade (pale blue) available.

How to wear your scrunchie

While we all know scrunchies as a hair accessory from back in the days, we like to think that it’s a versatile accessory that can be worn in well… not just your hair! From using them to hold your braids, buns, or ponytails in place, to wearing them on your wrist, here are some ways you can wear your scrunchie.

Low Ponytail

This is probably the easiest wear to flaunt your luxury scrunchies. Make the look interesting by creating twists in your hair before tying your tresses into a ponytail.
