Move over, cosmetic lenses. In the near future, there may be a surgery that can permanently change your eye colour.
The only limitation: it can only go from brown to blue. There aren’t other options.
How does it work?
According to the California based company, Stroma Medical Corporation, it is a non-invasive laser treatment that burns out the brown pigment (melanin) on the top layer of the iris. This procedure will then reveal the layer underneath, which is blue.
The company says that they are still conducting clinical trial, and it will take a few more years before it can be available. The intention is for it to be done by a doctor, using topical anaesthetic, and should take less than 20 seconds to perform. The new eye colour will gradually appear over two to four weeks. The price should be marked at USD5,000.
However, experts interviewed by Women’s Health are worried about potential damage to vision and health.
Would you try it if it’s available?
