Posts flood the app with users stocking up on Kinmen Qiangxiao’s pain relief products in Taiwan, with some even pointing out that it’s been featured on the news due to its massive popularity. The consensus? It’s an absolute must-have. The affordable prices make them extra appealing too.

So, what makes Kinmen Qiangxiao different? Turns out, it all comes down to a powerful herb called I-Tiao-Gung.

What Is I-Tiao-Gung?

As a beauty editor, I come across many trendy ingredients, but I-Tiao-Gung is a first. This ancient herb has been a staple in Taiwanese medicine for centuries, known for promoting circulation and eliminating cold and dampness.

More than just providing temporary relief, I-Tiao-Gung works at the root cause of discomfort, ensuring long-lasting relief and holistic healing.

Whether it’s a stiff neck from hunching over my laptop, post-workout soreness, or that annoying lower back ache from… well, being 33, I-Tiao-Gung is supposed to take care of it all.

Kinmen Qiangxiao pairs this star ingredient with menthol and essential oils for a natural, effective alternative to chemical-laden muscle relaxers. Some of their products also include turmeric and ginger, known for their soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.

But how does Kinmen Qiangxiao hold up against some of the biggest names on the market? We put three of its products to the test against well-known alternatives. Let’s see how they measure up.

Round 1: Kinmen Qiangxiao I-Tiao-Gung Pain Relief Roller Cream vs. Brand X

KINMEN QX Pain Relief Roller Cream

I originally heard about Kinmen Qiangxiao’s I-Tiao-Gung popular massage cream, which was already making waves on Rednote. But then, I discovered they had just launched a new product – the Kinmen Qiangxiao I-Tiao-Gung Pain Relief Roller Cream.

Unlike the brand’s OG massage cream, which is already beloved for its effectiveness, this newly launched roller cream offers an upgrade with a built-in rollerhead applicator. That means no messy hands, no wasted product, and a nice mini massage while applying.

It works great on muscle sprains, cramps, soreness, and swelling. After an intense at-home workout, I tested it on my calves, and it worked quickly to alleviate soreness. Plus, it’s fast-absorbing and completely non-sticky.

The competitor product soothes aches too, albeit at a slower rate. I had to apply it with my bare hands, which isn’t the cleanest solution out there. Not ideal when I have to wash off the strong menthol smell afterward.

I love that Kinmen Qiangxiao’s has a rollerhead applicator that feels extra soothing as I work the product in. I found myself reaching for this more often.

Winner: Kinmen Qiangxiao I-Tiao-Gung Pain Relief Roller Cream for the sheer convenience and the oddly addictive rolling sensation.

Round 2: Kinmen Qiangxiao I-Tiao-Gung Pain Relief Patch vs. Brand X

Next, I tested Kinmen Qiangxiao’s I-Tiao-Gung Pain Relief Patch, which comes in Original (Refreshing) and Turmeric (Warm) versions. I went with the Original one, and its stretchy fabric felt so comfortable as soon as I plastered it on.

I could wear it all day, and instead of an intense burning sensation, it provided a soothing, warming effect that felt pleasantly comforting.

The best part? You can cut the Kinmen Qiangxiao patch to your desired size. A small but genius detail that I appreciated when I just needed targeted relief. These self-adhesive patches can be customised to fit any area of discomfort, making them ideal for back pain, stiff joints, and muscle aches.

Meanwhile, Brand X’s patch came with an adhesive back sheet, which meant an extra step for application. I had to peel off the adhesive sheet, take out the plaster, place the plaster on the adhesive sheet, then peel off the plastic film and side strips before even applying it to my body.

These extra steps made it slightly time-consuming – not ideal for someone constantly on the go. On top of that, it wasn’t quite large enough for bigger areas like my lower back, which I tried it on.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get more frustrating, the patch kept lifting off every time I moved or bent down to grab something. I found myself constantly fiddling with it, trying to press it back into place. Defeated, I ripped it off in under an hour.

Winner: Kinmen Qiangxiao I-Tiao-Gung Pain Relief Patch, hands down. No unnecessary suffering required.

Round 3: Kinmen Qiangxiao I-Tiao-Gung Pain Relief Penetrating Liquid vs. Brand X

KINMEN QX Pain Relief Penetrating Liquid

Last but not least, the Kinmen Qiangxiao I-Tiao-Gung Pain Relief Penetrating Liquid.

It’s lightweight and portable, making it super easy to toss into my bag. It’s also easy to use on hard-to-reach areas like my back, especially when my partner isn’t around to help me apply it.

Both Kinmen Qiangxiao and Brand X don’t drip when applied, which is a plus. However, Kinmen Qiangxiao quickly became my preferred option because it doesn’t have that overwhelming scent I often associate with muscle rubs.

Brand X has a strong menthol and camphor smell that hits you right away, which makes me hesitant to use it outside of the house, whereas Kinmen Qiangxiao’s formula has almost no noticeable scent. It also doesn’t feel overwhelmingly spicy on the skin, making it comfortable to use anywhere.

It was a total standout for my stiff shoulders, which tend to protest after long hours chained to my desk. A few swipes and I was back in action.

Winner: Kinmen Qiangxiao I-Tiao-Gung Pain Relief Penetrating Liquid for its mess-free, targeted application.

The Verdict: Is Kinmen Qiangxiao Worth the Hype?

Absolutely. Across all three rounds, Kinmen Qiangxiao outperformed its competitors in effectiveness, convenience, and overall experience.

Whether you prefer the cooling sensation of the Pain Relief Roller Cream, the long-lasting comfort of the Pain Relief Patch, or the easy application of the Penetrating Liquid, Kinmen Qiangxiao has a product for every type of muscle discomfort.

But the lineup doesn’t stop there. Kinmen Qiangxiao also offers:

  • Kinmen Qiangxiao Turmeric I-Tiao Gung Roll-On: A compact, portable roll-on for instant relief that absorbs quickly without sticky residue.
  • Kinmen Qiangxiao Turmeric I-Tiao-Gung Massage Cream: A deeply relaxing formula that’s ideal for post-workout recovery or winding down after a long day.

If you’re someone who experiences frequent muscle aches – be it from exercise, long hours at a desk, or everyday stress – Kinmen Qiangxiao is a must-try. Its lineup offers an effective, natural, and mess-free way to relieve pain without harsh chemicals.

These also make the perfect thoughtful gift for anyone in need of relief, whether you know a hardworking food delivery driver, a colleague who’s always hunched over their laptop, your parents dealing with everyday aches, or even your neighbour who complains about sore joints.

A simple gesture like this can show them you care and that their well-being matters.

Long story short? Rednote got it right. Kinmen Qiangxiao lives up to its social media fame, and I’ll definitely be keeping these products stocked in my cabinet from now on.
