Longer, fuller lashes are just about every girl’s dream. That’s why falsies and mascaras were invented, after all, but there’s no doubt that there’s that fine line between them appearing non-existent or looking way too over the top.
As someone who’s always looking for that just-right balance, I can safely say that I’ve exhausted every other option out there. Mascaras barely make a dent on my short, stubby lashes, and while I love lash extensions, they are about as far as natural looking as it can get.
This is why I was pretty excited when I heard about Dreamlash’s Magic Volume Lashes. It claims to give long, natural looking and fluttery lashes without appearing too heavy and dramatic, which sounds right up my alley. Plus, my previous experience with Dreamlash was great, so I jumped at the chance to make a return visit.
Who exactly is Dreamlash?

Helmed by international judge and eyelash trainer, Ms Rachel Lye, Dreamlash is a premium Korean eyelash studio that focuses on creating the perfect lash design for every client.
As the first award winning lash salon in Singapore, all lash artists are certified and hold a lash certificate from the International Eyelash Design Association, with their headquarters located in Korea. All lashes are also customised to suit your style and preference, as they firmly believe that one size does not fit all. This means you can rest easy knowing that your lashes will be custom-made to suit you, and you alone.
In other words? I knew I was in the hands of true professionals, which was definitely reassuring.
How does the Magic Volume Lashes differ from other lash extensions?

As mentioned, Magic Volume Lashes give you long, voluminous and fluttery lashes that don’t weigh down your eyelids in the slightest. Hand made volume fan lashes are meticulously attached to your natural lashes, giving the appearance of full, luscious lashes that still appear natural.

What was the process like?
Before the extensions
The session started with a thorough consultation based on my lash preference. I asked for lashes with a little more curl to it which my therapist agreed to as my natural lashes are straight and droopy. I’m assured that it will still appear natural, though, and that the hint of a curl will give me a wide awake appearance, thus making my usual makeup routine of liner and mascara obsolete. (I was definitely looking forward to that.)
She then went through the essential steps of extension aftercare with me: no getting water on them for the first three hours at least, and no prodding or rubbing at my lashes over the next few days. Sounds difficult, but having gone through the process once before, I know that— with some self control!— it’s totally possible.
An eye mask was applied to my under eye lid area, and eye drops was kindly provided as I was wearing contact lens. This is done because the eyelash glue can be drying to eyes, so if you’re a contact lens wearer, be sure to take note!
DV Tip: If your eyes are a little more sensitive, we recommend taking off your contacts and popping them into a contact lens case before the treatment.
The process started quickly and painlessly. In fact, I didn’t even realise it had started, until my therapist asked if I was feeling any discomfort or irritation. She made it a point to ask me about my comfort level throughout the procedure, which really put me at ease.
It took about an hour and a half to get all 500 lashes (250 on each eye!) applied to my lashes. A fan was then used to blow dry the lashes to help set the glue, and when I opened my eyes, it was to a set of light but voluminous lashes that made me look more refreshed than before.
What were the results?
Left: Before | Right: After
After the extensions
The effect is instantaneous, as you can tell from the pictures. To the untrained eye, it simply appears as if I’m genetically blessed with long, full lashes. Two weeks in, and I can safely say that my morning makeup routine has been pared down to brow gel, and blush if I have the time for it. I’ve also received multiple compliments from acquaintances (who definitely have not seen me in a while) who have commented on how I look a little perkier than before.
Suffice to say, I’m definitely not the only happy camper out there. Check out how the Magic Volume Lashes fared on others!

Mascara? I don’t know her. Well, until I have to go down for my next touch-up, that is.
