When Dyson first launched the Airwrap, it changed how we styled our hair; no extreme heat, no fried ends, just glossy, voluminous curls at home.
Now, the beauty tech giant announces the launch of the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda2x, and I can’t believe I’d say this: I’m saying goodbye to my old Airwrap. The new Co-anda2x is faster, smarter, and designed to make hairstyling even more effortless than before.
Twice the Power, Half the Fuss
At the heart of the new Airwrap is the Hyperdymium 2 motor, which generates twice the air pressure for quicker drying and styling. The result? Hair that’s smoothed, curled, or blown out in record time – perfect for busy mornings or quick event prep.
Better Barrels, Easier Curls
Remember how you have to switch barrels to change curl direction in the first-generation Airwrap? Dyson has already noticed this problem and changed subsequent versions to barrels that allow you to create both clockwise and anticlockwise curls with a single barrel, simply by switching a knob in the barrels.
Just for comparison’s sake, I decided to also mention the keeping of this feature in the Co-anda2x, for those of you who are still using the first-generation Airwrap.
Curls appear tighter, and last longer.
Available in 30mm and 40mm sizes, these upgraded barrels now wrap hair faster and hold the curl longer, thanks to enhanced airflow control.
The Star Attachment: Airsmooth 2x
For many – myself, included – this will be the attachment that steals the show.
The Airsmooth 2x functions like a sleek, intelligent straightener. It clamps onto hair automatically, glides down smoothly, and even stops when you reach the ends. It’s ideal for achieving polished, straight styles – the kind you’ll actually use daily, not just on special occasions.
This is also great for taming flyaways, and is much easier to use compared to the old flyaway smoother attachment in one of his newer versions.
Smart Styling with the iD Curl App
Tech-savvy users will love the iD Curl app, which syncs with the Airwrap Co-anda2x to guide you through every step: from wrapping to styling, cold shot, and curl release.
An accelerometer senses movement, while an RFID chip recognises barrel size to optimise timing. Once your curl is set, the device automatically shuts off and waits in idle mode until you’re ready for the next section.
Verdict?
If you loved the original Airwrap, this one will make you wonder how you ever managed without it. It’s time to toss out your Airwrap and give yourself the much-needed upgrade you know you want.
