My Hair Hasn’t Stopped Shining Since I Tried This Luxe In-Salon Treatment

So when Daily Vanity’s editorial director Kristen was invited to try the Kérastase Gloss Absolu – Glaze Gloss Ritual, designed for frizz-prone hair craving mirror-like shine and bounce, she jumped at the chance.

Here’s everything that went down and why you’ll want to make an appointment, stat.

Step 1: A Bespoke Hair Diagnosis

Even though Kristen had passed by the boutique many times, she was surprised to discover “a hidden treatment cabin for hair and scalp treatments.” The space immediately set her at ease – “clean, bright, exactly how I prefer to explore my products… cosy yet professional.”

Her stylist began the consultation with the Kérastase K-Scan, a high-tech scalp diagnosis device used to examine scalp condition, hair fibre health, and any underlying issues. Kristen described the scan as “very thorough,” adding that it made the consultation feel more personalised than what she typically experiences at salons.

The scan revealed that she didn’t have any serious hair or scalp concerns, but the stylist noted that the upcoming ritual would help address her “hair frizz and dullness,” two of her main worries.

Based on the diagnostic findings, she was prescribed the Brillance booster, created to enhance shine and luminosity. The alternative would have been the Discipline booster for smoothness, but shine was the priority for her hair profile that day.

Step 2: The Gloss Ritual Experience

The Gloss Absolu ritual is Kérastase’s newest innovation, powered by a blend of skincare-grade ingredients:

• Glycolic Acid gently exfoliates and transforms dull strands into smooth, reflective surfaces
• Wild Rose in Oil nourishes with antioxidants while giving that addictive, floral-citrus signature scent

Kristen’s 75-minute session began with a welcome head massage as the stylist dimmed the lights and played soft, calming music, instantly setting a spa-like tone. She said it was so pampering that she “was trying my best not to fall asleep at this step so that I can capture more photos, but it was too difficult to stay awake.”

She recalled how the very first step hit her senses: the shampoo’s fragrance “feels luxurious and calms my senses,” and the entire experience – the textures, the massage, and the soothing routine – helped “reduce the headache I’ve been feeling all week.”

The Kérastase Gloss Absolu – Glaze Gloss Ritual consisted of four steps, each using products from the Gloss Absolu range:

1. Bathe: Bain Hydra-Glaze, a jelly-like hydrating shampoo, foams upon contact and cleanses the scalp while tightening hair cuticles for a smoother, shinier surface.
2. Treat: A customised mix of Concentré Nutritive + Brillance Booster, layered with Fondant Insta Glaze to hydrate, detangle, and boost shine.
3. Prime: The lightweight Anti-Frizz Glaze Milk was applied before blow-drying to protect against heat, smooth the hair, and keep frizz at bay.
4. Finish: The treatment ended with Glaze Drops, a lightweight, high-gloss oil that added luminosity without weighing the hair down.

She was also enamoured with the scent of the range, describing it as “floral and luxurious,” adding that “if it were a perfume, I’d wear it!”

Step 3: The Transformation

Once the blow-dry was complete, Kristen ran her fingers through her hair and was immediately struck by the difference.

Her hair looked visibly glossier, more voluminous, and felt “soft, light, and smooth – no tangles.” She loved how her hair felt “incredibly smooth” with no snagging or dryness, and how clean, airy, and lightly scented it was.
