What Gives Your Eyes a Cat-Like Appearance?

If you have puppy eyes, the top eyelid typically features a round and smooth curve. In contrast, cat eyes exhibit a more angular shape, sloping upwards with a sharp, straight turn.

Additionally, cat eyes often have outer corners higher than the inner corners, creating a distinctive look compared to the rounded downturn of puppy eyes.

Step-by-Step Guide to Achieving Hae-Rin’s Iconic Cat Eyes

Step 1: Blend Your Outer Corners Upwards

Begin by applying a natural base shade across your top eyelids. Then, blend the eyeshadow from the outer corner of your eyes upwards, creating the illusion of a more angular and upturned look.

Step 2: Create Winged Eyeliner

Using your favourite eyeliner, start at the edge of your pupil and extend the line straight and upward. This technique gives the upper eyelid a less rounded and more angular appearance. Opt for a black eyeliner for a chic and fierce look, perfect for achieving that stylish cat-eye image.

Step 3: Extend Inner Corner Downwards

Extend your inner corner downwards using a gel liner. This technique opens up your inner corners, creating a longer and sharper appearance reminiscent of a cat’s fierce gaze.

Step 4: Create Curved Outer Corner

Apply a slightly reddish-brown eyeshadow to your outer corners in a curved and rounded angle.

Use a burgundy liner to draw a curved line from the middle of your pupil to near the ends of your outer corner, then blend it out with eyeshadow.

Ensure the eyeshadow extends to your aegyo-sal (under-eye puff), maintaining an upward direction rather than dragging it down.

Step 5: Add Highlight and Glitter

For an extra oomph effect, apply your favourite highlight and glitter to your inner eye corner, aegyo-sal, and your upper eyelid.

Instead of placing the glitters at the center of your eyelid as usual, focus them slightly towards the front to further highlight your sharp inner corners.

Step 6: Apply Mascara

Finish off by applying mascara to the outer corner to elongate your eyes. Pay special attention to your inner corner to draw focus to your angular upper eyelid.
