We’re sure you know Crabtree & Evelyn and have probably bought their amazing beauty and home products before. Their hand cream, shower gel, and body lotion are among fans’ favourites.
Unfortunately, Crabtree & Evelyn has filed for bankruptcy protection in Canada and the company has begun liquidating inventory to distribute the proceeds to creditors.
Crabtree & Evelyn attributed their bankruptcy to “significant losses” it has experienced due to changing consumer demand, the rise of e-commerce, and long-term declines in traditional retail traffic. They also announced that all of its stores in Canada will be shutting.
In Singapore, we started seeing Crabtree & Evelyn’s announcement of major discounts (up to 70% off storewide) about a week ago.
According to sources who spoke to Daily Vanity, Crabtree & Evelyn boutiques in Singapore will also gradually close down, as the brand transits their availability to fully online. This means that we can still get our hands on our favourite products in the future (Phew!)
A moving out sale has already started on 21 December and will persist till the stores close and while stocks last. Crabtree & Evelyn Singapore told Daily Vanity that the stores will close in phases over the next few months. There’s no indication when the boutiques will be fully shuttered, and further notice will be given.
Crabtree & Evelyn Singapore also said that the VIP membership programme has already ceased on 31 December 2018 and all points must be redeemed and vouchers used by 31 January 2019. A new VIP programme will be created for the website, and the brand will reveal details in time to come.
Fans will also be happy to know that Crabtree & Evelyn will continue to launch new products in the future. In fact, they revealed that many new products will be launched in the second half of 2019.
