This year is a big year for Dyson Beauty. We’ve seen the impressive Dyson Airstrait change up beauty routines with its 2-in-1 wet-to-dry straightener. Now, it’s time to make way for the scalp-friendly Dyson Supersonic Nural.

If you’re guilty of going to bed with wet hair (we’ve all been there), keep your eyes peeled on Dyson’s latest innovation — the first ever technical update on the Dyson Supersonic since its launch!

Just when we thought we couldn’t be more impressed with Dyson’s state-of-the-art technology, they launched the Supersonic Nural, boasting a network of sensors with three new intelligent features to simplify and elevate haircare routines.

While all Dyson hair dryers utilise intelligent heat control to protect against heat damage, the Supersonic Nural adds an additonal layer of heat protection.

Read on for everything you need to know about the Supersonic Nural!

New Sensor Technology

Time of Flight Sensor

Dyson Supersonic Nural

Extreme heat can damage our scalp. Dyson took that into consideration when they innovated the Time of Flight sensor, which activates the Scalp Protect Mode by measuring the distance between the machine and hair using an invisible beam of photons, maintaining a consistent air temperature.

What this means is, the air temperature is altered according to its distance from your head. The closer the device is to you, the lower its heat setting will be.

The hottest it will go is 55 degrees celsius, which Dyson has found to be the optimal temperature to help lock moisture into your hair without over-drying, yet still providing fast airflow for efficient drying.

Hall Sensor

Dyson Supersonic Nural

The Hall sensor recognises unique magnetic IDs from each attachment via their magnetic fields.

Once you’ve connected an attachment to the machine, it will activate an Attachment Learning sensor, which remembers your last-used attachment settings so you don’t have manually adjust it every time you insert a new attachment.

This feature is great for users sharing the device with other family members in their household, utilising different attachments for various hair lengths.

This way, you won’t have to take time out of your busy mornings to adjust the hairdryer settings to accommodate your preferences—the Nural does it all for you!

Accelerometer

Dyson Supersonic Nural

The Accelerometer detects movement, switching off the heater and automatically decreasing airflow to reduce unnecessary noise.

This means that when you put the device down, it will automatically lower its heat, airflow, and noise level.

This is when you’ll notice the heater deactivating, with the airflow temperature ramping down to ultra-low. You’ll notice the capsule turning into a pulsing blue when this happens.

When you pick the device back up, heat, airflow, and the Capsule Illumination will be reactivated.

We know the struggle busy mums face in the morning—if your child comes crying mid-drying, you can just put it down and tuck them back into bed without worrying about the dryer heating up the products lying on your vanity.

Capsule Illumination

Dyson Supersonic Nural Capsule Illumination

You can now identify your heat setting at a glance with the Supersonic Nural’s Capsule Illumination.

It utilises LED lights to indicate your heat setting, each colour representing a different intensity. Red reflects the highest heat setting, orange is at medium heat, yellow indicates low heat, and blue represents the cold shot.

Tying this technology in with the Time of Flight sensor, you will be able to observe the Capsule Illumination change colours the closer or further you bring the machine towards your head.

Different attachments also activate different heat settings, which are altered to complement the attachment.

New Styling Attachments

The Supersonic Nural comes with five intelligent attachments, preset with recommended airflow and heat settings, that you can customise!

Gentle Air Attachment

Dyson Supersonic Nural GentleAir Attachment

High heat and high airflow are activated when you attach the Gentle Air Attachment for fast yet gentle and comfortable up-close drying.

Styling Concentrator

Dyson Supersonic Nural Styling Concentrator Attachment

The Styling Concentrator is re-engineered with a wider and thinner blade of air for precise styling. When attached to your Nural, it activates a default setting of high heat and medium airflow.

Smoothing Nozzle

Dyson Supersonic Nural Smoothing Nozzle Attachment

With the Smoothing Nozzle, you can remove unwanted frizz and create a smooth, natural finish. This attachment activates a medium heat and flow preset.

Diffuser

Dyson Supersonic Nural Diffuser Attachment

Also activated with medium heat and flow preset, the Diffuser enables diffused air to reach deep into your hair, creating defined curls and waves.

Flyaway Smoother

Dyson Supersonic Nural FlyAway Smoother Attachment

Last but not least, we have the only 2-in-1 brush used to smooth and hide flyaways with its Coanda effect. This attachment activates a low heat, high airflow preset.

All of the attachments except the diffuser activate the Pause Detect feature, and the Gentle Air, Styling Concentrator and Smoothing Nozzle are compatible with the Scalp Protect Mode.

The Dyson Supersonic retails at S$699 and will be available at Dyson demo stores and dyson.com.sg from 23 May 2024.
